Sometimes you can feel like you can get more out of reading a single book then you have an entire semester of college. Some of these books might be surprisingly simple to read. Which three books made you feel much more educated and enriched after reading them?
Ecclesiastes.
John Cleese? I’m gonna check that out.
The Critique of Pure Reason
The Critique of Practical Reason
The Critique of Judgment
Original Intent by David Barton
Forced Exit: The Slippery Slope From Assisted Suicide to Euthanasia by Wesley Smith
The Year Of The Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised National Security by Edward Timberlake and William Triplett
Another great easy to understand book on economics is Henry Hazlitt’s “Economics in One Lesson”.
How to Lie with Statistics.
Short book and quick read. A bit dated but after reading that, you’ll never believe another poll or *study* again.
The Bible (it also qualifies as the hardest, as well)
Evangeline and the Sovereignty of God by J I Packer
Peace Child by Don Richardson
1.The Bible.
2. The AA Big Book.
3.The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich by William L. Shier.
Screw tape Letters good call. Easy to read and has influenced my thinking for decades.
A Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich, also by Soltzhenitsyn.
Doing business on credit is asking for failure.
:)
In Cold Blood is incredibly well written.
Oh, read it! Read it! He will make you understand economics well enough that you can explain things like the role of prices in an economy, how economics is the study of the utilization of scarce resources that have multiple uses, and so on.
It is brilliantly and approachable written. No math that I can remember. All concept with examples.
Recently, my Republican Town Committee took part in a town activity where we set up a booth, and as a way to get people to stop (because most people are scared to death to make eye contact with anyone occupying a political booth, especially in my blue town in a blue state!) we had a free raffle!
We knew someone with access to some products like bluetooth speakers and such, got them for low money or free, and I offered to buy some books to include in the free raffle. One was “Witness” by Whittaker Chambers. Another was Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell, and the last one that was never claimed by the winner, was “The Conscience of A Conservative” by Barry Goldwater.
I took that one home with me...:)
That should be Evangelism .... Evangeline is a poem.
You can listen to an abridged version here: The Screwtape Letters Narrated by John Cleese from ScrewTube!
The Old Man And The Sea. Classic Hemingway!
Green Eggs and Ham.
Also, very good.
1. History - Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne
2. Faith - The Pursuit of God by Tozer
3. Wrastlin' - Slobberknocker: My Life in Wrestling by Jim Ross
