So, you're interested in learning all the terms and phrases someone might use to express their gender identity. Or maybe, you're exploring your own gender, and looking for the right word or words. Either way, there are a lot of terms out there, and you might have a few questions—especially if you're realizing that you don't (always) identify with the gender assigned to you at birth......
What is gender identity? In short: “Gender identity is how you feel about yourself and the ways you express your gender,” says Jackie Golob, MS, LPCC, an AASECT-certified sex therapist in Minnesota.
It’s important to note that genitalia does not equal gender, and someone's genitals have no bearing on whether they identify as a man, a woman, non-binary, or anything else. “The sex characteristics a person is born with do not signify a person's gender identity,” adds Golob. “When people have ‘gender reveal parties,’ it really should be called a ‘genital reveal party.’”.......
Now that you know the basics, here's a deeper dive into what all the terms related to gender and sex mean.
1. Agender
2. Bigender
3. Cisgender
4. Demigender
5. Female
6. Femme
7. Gender Non-Conforming
8. Gender-Expansive
9. Genderfluid
10. Genderqueer
11. Gendervoid
12. Graygender
13. Intersex
14. Male
15. Non-binary
16. Omnigender
17. Pangender
18. Polygender
19. Transgender
20. Two-spirit
While these terms may be helpful for some, the labels listed may not feel right to others, and that's okay. Gender is a spectrum, and there is no finite number of gender identities. In fact, "there are infinite places you can land on," says Mezulis.

A person is whatever sex/chromosome set they were born with except the extremely rare hermaphrodite (intersex).
Oh I hear you on that. It’s dealing with them at work. Why can’t we just call them a cross dresser? How did “transgender” become an actual word?
If I had a dollar for every gender, I’d have 2 dollars.
They forgot:
faggot
pervert
poofter
bender
Nancy boy
Some psychologists and sex experts are mentally ill.
A few years ago, while on a photo safari in South Africa,we met a couple from Sweden. The husband was a famous brain researcher in Stockholm and the wife was a psychiatrist. She told us a story of a patient of hers who was convinced that he was Vladimir Putin. I kid you not!
Of course she didn’t mention his name or anything...she didn’t violate any patient confidentiality standards.
Some???
FReeper alloysteel had a great post on this subject a couple of days ago.
If I had a dollar for every gender, I’d have 2 dollars.
Hilarious! Thanks.
There’s only two. Anything else is a gender dysphoric mental case.
“Transgender” will NEVER be a real thing. Regardless of how far technology may advance in relation to chromosome configuration, no possible technique shall succeed in changing even one XY chromosome pair into an XX pair, or vice versa. And there are trillions of cells in even a single individual human being.
There’s XX and XY
All else is a lie
live not
by lies
Thank you.
How would you like to be known as a sex expert?
Bkmrk
You failed to include “bitch”
“You failed to include “bitch””
It’s not a pronoun but neither is my favorite term “asshole” - everybody has one so it’s all inclusive.
How about pronouns for the schizophrenic? Why are we ignoring them?
