I have wanted an HK Mark 23 for 20 years. i just couldn't justify the price. Well i finally said screw it and bought it. I now have my dream gun.
You chose...wisely.
...listed for $2,499 on Cabelas’ web site....pretty expensive...I would think other, less expensive, handguns would do the job, too.... jus’ sayin’.....
Nice gun. I have a few H&Ks. A friend of mine’s daughter worked at H&K in Virginia long ago. She arraigned a tour of the Grey Room there. Its their collection of all the guns they have built. Another day they took us to range day. We got to fire a a bunch of their guns and eat barbeque. She got me into their Friends & Family program. I got to buy a SL8 for factory cost ($565).
For my money the FNX45 Tactical is a better weapon at half the price. Fully ambidextrous construction, slide is already machined for a red dot and comes with two mounting plates, customizable grip backstraps, threaded barrel, suppressor height sights, and 15+1 capacity 45 ACP standard (Mk 23 is 12rds standard). Can be carried cocked & locked, or decocted using the same lever. Double action trigger is a bit long, but single action has a short, tactile, and audible reset.I also like the grip texture better than the Mk 23.
decocted = decocked
Other handguns would to the job. I just have always wanted this one
Sounds like you bought one of the S&W PPKs, too :-)
On the upside, I got one of the Ft. Smith Walthers, and mine at least, lives up to the legend.
I remember buying one of those money guns from you many years ago. Don’t remember the model, but it was as $&W revolver. Yeah, it looked like money to me after a while too.
I think it was a long barreled Model 27 that you traded a French AL 48 in 28 gauge.
What is funny is the clerk had to put a Hk Mark 23 and a Hi Point “Yeet Cannon” on the same 4473. You know he was questioning life

Ha! I see a Bumpus hound too.
I got mine recently. It’s a vintage Belgian made Browning Hi Power that I sold to a friend 25 years ago. Sadly he passed last year and he left it to me. I also got his Remington 11-87 Premier Skeet shotgun.
While I’d much rather still have my friend among the living, I regretted selling that gun to him the moment I did it. I tried to buy it back for years.
He’d just laugh and say “you can have it when I’m gone.” He was true to his word.

It’s all a moot point for me out here in CA.
My screen name is, very unfortunately, a wish for a shift in the legislated climate of this benighted state, not an extant reality.
I don’t believe that either of your fine procurements are on the roster of arms that may be legally transferred in CA.
original post got somehow messed up. check a few posts down where I got the photo to post correctly. an Hk Mark 23
