I hope I honored my late wife's memory properly

Posted on 02/04/2024 1:54:47 PM PST by CMS

I recently lost my wife of 16 years to cardiac failure. Her loss has been devastating. We had a fight before we went to bed and our last words were not pleasant. When the alarm went off and I rolled over and saw her laying there eyes open and motionless, I knew I lost her. I'd give ANYTHING to tell her that I 'm sorry for the fight and to tell her that I love her one more time.

I called 911 and everyone showed up, and I was treated like a criminal that potentially murdered her for 3 hours until the coroner arrived and said it was cardiac failure. After that was said everyone's demeanor towards me changed and they became more sympathetic.

She always loved the beach and we went every chance we got. One of her happiest memories was when we were on a beach at Montego Bay Jamacia

I went with a beach theme for her urn, so now I feel she's forever at the beach

CMS, I am not sure if this will come through but it’s worth a shot. Just four months ago, October 2, 2023 I lost my Son and more than anything I prayed for comfort and to know he was with the Lord and OK. I saw this post on facebook with the relevant scripture attached to each. It really helped me as I hope it helps you. If the link does not show it I will repost.

That’s pretty common, I think. Three years after her death, my wife’s clothes are still hanging in the closet.

My most sincere condolences. To grieve is human; to celebrate your life together is love. (Just my opinion but it sounds right.)

Condolences on the passing of your wife. As a police dispatcher, my wife sent many police/fire/ems/coroner teams to unattended deaths. It sounds like your wife's passing was treated in similar fashion until the coroner weighed in.

My wife has had 2 grand mal (clonic/tonic) seizures. The first on my birthday in August 2019. I was panicked, but did my best to maintain her airway and call 911 where her co-workers answered the call. Soon I had 10 cops and 10 firemen standing in my bedroom. Off to ER. Diagnosis DKA (diabetic keto-acidosis). The seizure likely due to insufficient CO2 in her blood due to rapid breathing to expel the ketones. The 2nd time came in Feb 2020. A similar response. Off to ER. Not DKA. A legitimate seizure. Now on anti-convulsants.

I'm sorry that you didn't have an opportunity to say good bye or offer an intervention. Sometimes there isn't a thing you can do even if it occurs in a fully attended ER. Your tribute is a wonderful celebration of the good times you enjoyed together.

My condolences on the loss of your wife;it is so hard to lose someone who is such a part of your life.

>> I was already suffering from depression before, this took it to a new level. <<

Take care of this: get checked out by a doctor and see a therapist.

My dad died and I did not keep up with my thyroid levels. As a result I ended up with really low levels for a few months. I did not have the physical resources to keep my head above water (metaphorically).

Just don’t neglect yourself. This is a hard enough loss to go through without taking care of yourself. Take care of yourself the way you would if you were helping a loved one through this.

Thank you for the condolences

If somehow my post helped you out, I'm glad for that.

I've always been the type of person that is happy if I can make others feel better if they are in a bad place.

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone earlier tonight with a buddy that going through a bad night. I was having a bad night myself, but I wanted to make sure he got raised up out of his bad place .

A friend once quipped “Maybe our purpose in life is to serve as an example” and we realized it is more true than we imagined. He had gone through a similar thing with his brother. You take those tragedies in life and turn them into lessons. Maybe someone who hears that story speaks differently to their spouse or child or friend because of it. I know I did. There are many here who have lost a parent or spouse or child or friend and they remind us to appreciate those people while they are here. It’s just so easy to take that time for granted.

I mentioned this post to my wife. She was telling me about her best friend’s husband who had become abusive. Our 35th anniversary is coming up. She asked which anniversary it was. I said it was the “Take your best friend to Italy” anniversary.

I lost my wife in September of 2019. She had a stroke on her way to work (teacher), hit a light pole, and was brain dead from that moment until her body gave out 6 days later.

You have my condolences and prayers, for you and your family. I won’t say it gets easier, but it does get better.

I am so so sorry for your loss. As most couples, we’ve had our arguments and loud fights. That is why before she goes to bed (earlier than me), she gives me a sincere kiss with a big smile. We’ve lived long enough to know that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Hang tough, Brother, and make new memories to share with her when you see her again.

"the last words we say to each other at the end of the day are “I love you.” Nothing is guaranteed."

Same thoughts and nightly kiss. See my post above.

[I lost my wife of 35 years last December. But we must go on. Life is too precious and short. Stay strong and cherish all the good memories. It is unusual for couple to not argue in a long marriage. But the happy memories are paramount and helps us heal the pain of loss.]

My sincere condolences. May you find comfort in the children she gave you and (hopefully) the grandchildren who resulted.

These arguments and pressures are caused by the imposter un-chief, occupiers in the Dark-House

Remember, had Trump kept going non-stop 8years, instead of four, cheers.

Stay in the Word, and remember, even Peter, under PRESSURE, denied the Messiah thrice, even wacking an ear off a guard.

She doesn’t even remember any negatives down here. She’s probably so elated she’s singing, “glory, glory, glory “

Looking forward to the same. The Resurrection Blood covers everything.
