Basically no one believed that either Washington or FSU would win out. But it is entirely believable that either Bama or GA could/can win the CFP.
Hook Em
I am going to speculate that it might because The University of Washington is in the far northwest part of the country and the cost of traveling to Houston for the game may be a bigger burden for their fans than Alabama and Texas. Michigan has a much larger fan base to begin with.
I suspect if the will, those tickets will get sold pretty quickly.
Washington IS (or soon will be) a Big Ten team.
Texas too.
Michigan, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio St were the four best teams.
In the entire history of the four team playoff they failed to select the four best teams one single time-no need to start now.
I notice Florida State fans are no longer complaining about their “undefeated” team not being invited to the CFP. Wonder why! 🤣
It is pretty obvious why Washington hasn’t sold out. Texas will win. the game. Washington doesn’t have as dedicated fan base as Texas. The last reason is it is farther away.
I hope all the former Pacific Athletic Conference teams fail in their new conferences. PAC is weaker than the others, but they were local. These teams sold their soul for money.
“Washington has a 20,000 ticket allotment for its fans if the Huskies reach the national championship game.”
NOT the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The championship game in Houston. The Huskies will destroy Texas, then we can talk about the tickets to the championship game.
I think Washington’s gonna get rolled.
Roll Tide Roll
It’s a long way from Washington to New Orleans
Huskies fans have never traveled well to Bowl games other than the Rose bowl. As one, I have personally been to 3 Rose Bowls and the 85 Orange Bowl which had the same issue. There was a reason college football had regional bowl games, (Rose, Orange, Peach, Sugar, Cotton) so fans wouldn’t have to travel far to see their teams
My question to the CFP is why did they send Michigan to the Rose Bowl and Washington to the Sugar Bowl?
Because they didnt want to give Alabama a regional home game, so they gave Texas the home field advantage. Essentially setting up a Michigan - Texas championship game.
Of course it’s not the tickets for the game they’re definitely playing. It’s the tickets for the actual championship, which they might not play in. And if they win the Sugar Bowl there’s another week to sell the tickets. Non-story. Honestly it’s kind of weird that they even expect fans to pre-buy tickets for the final game before even knowing who is in, basically expecting to refund 40,000 tickets. Guess you can always count on the NCAA to do something odd.
The CFP Committee was not true to their governing rules and actions prior to this last one which they did what they wanted. By all rights they should have barred Michigan, but they no longer care about the CFP, only money. They should have left both Bama and Georgia out, putting as they did Michigan, FSU, Washington, Texas. Bama should not be in their having lost to TX. It cheapens the loss they had, but then rumors are Nick the Saint may be leaving on better terms than Harbaugh in 2024....
