An Oakland restaurant owner was robbed by multiple suspects after his vehicle crashed and flipped upside-down in a Mad Max-style car chase.
The harrowing event occurred early Friday morning on Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland, California - a city likened to a hellscape in the Mad Max film series, where gangs roam in packs of vehicles in search of fuel.
Photos and videos captured the victim's Honda Accord flipping and landing on the Lake Merritt walking trail, as witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots after the crash.
The car chase started at International Plaza, a strip mall in the Little Saigon neighborhood that has been targeted by burglars in the past, as KTVU reported.
The victim, who has not been identified, noticed three cars tailing him and tried to drive away before the alleged robbers pointed a gun at him and stole his belongings.
'The front car flipped and crashed. (The) following cars stopped and several (people) dressed in black jumped out and started to surround the crashed car,' a videographer who witnessed the incident told KRON 4.
Surveillance video obtained by police shows the victim was chased by a Dodge Charger, a Cadillac and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk on Lakeshore Avenue for about a mile.
'One of the vehicles collided with the victim's vehicle, causing the victim's vehicle to rollover,' Oakland police officer Rosalia Lopez wrote.
The victim ended up flipping over near Lake Merritt and finding himself surrounded by the suspects, including one who alleged pointed a gun at him.
His wife, who was 'scared and frustrated' by the robbery, said: 'He noticed that there's four cars driving in, so he drove off.
'They point a gun at him. They took his gun and money. It's a small handgun to protect himself,' she added.

Has a gun, doesn’t use it. Stupid.
American citizens need to arm up and protect themselves from the failures of this administration! AND Satan’s followers need to be put down.
No worries mate.
It’s just a few bludgers (welfare dependents) practicing Bidenomics.
“Try that in a small town” in Texas.
>> Has a gun, doesn’t use it. Stupid.
I can appreciate that in Oakland, California (or NY or MA or...) the question of when to bring out the deadly force might be a more difficult call to make.
In that case, we can start by banning the demonrat party.
CRIMINAL collective v individual.
A Glock 17 and the will to use it would have completely changed this outcome. A mouse gun provides a fine illusion of being adequately armed. Carry enough gun, and be willing to fight for your life is the obvious lesson here.
Oakland is a quagmire. Time to send in the US Marines
Comment & tagline BUMP. Be prepared.
Neutron bomb and start over.
Barely related but had an insurance client that ran a fruit wholesale operation selling fruit to restaurants, had a small fender bender at Lake Merritt. Then hazmat came in dug up the soil and charged him millions of dollars to clean it up, totally put him out of business even after the insurance carrier paid out policy limits to the city.
They recovered all he stolen drugs from the wrecked car
Divershity.
Visited at a friend’s invitation a few years back. The feeling of being behind enemy lines was palpable. Hair on the back of my neck standing up kinda thing. Criminals and druggies all over the place, while 20/30/40 something hipsters zoomed around on electric scooters. Surreal.
