Rivalry games are always weird, and have the potential for upsets.
Roll Tide!
No they don't. Weak schedule.
Yes.
But Louisville beat themselves. 3 1st and goals with only 3 points.
Agreed. Which reinforces my contention that bowl games are really just popularity contests. Justin Bieber (sp?) is therefore a “better” singer than Andrea Bocelli.
“ I predict a Texas-Bama rematch for the National Championship”
That’s what the tv folks wanted all along. I’m sure with being Saban’s swan song the gushing will be at a nauseous level.
FSU has a 19 game win streak going back to 2022. I’d like to see them win the bowl game to continue the streak. OTOH, without being in the playoffs, bowl games don’t mean much anymore and a lot of NFL bound players from both teams won’t play.
Between conference realignment, NIL, the transfer portal and the ridiculous coaches salaries, I’m finding it hard to get too excited about college football anymore (and I gave up on pro football a long time ago).
Get's his SEC AND a clown-stomping of Michigan
First, FSU plays in the ACC and the ACC is the red headed step child of the major conferences.
Second, they do not have the money or number of viewers as Texas and Alabama.
We intentionally sucked this year just so we could deny FSU a chance at the Natty. That Billy Napier is a frickin’ genius!
FSU was 2-0 against the SEC this year.
The current NCAA “playoff” system is a joke, and the idea of excluding FSU is unconscionable.
I’m glad this is the last year of this silly circus.
Yeah, I don’t really watch a lot of games anymore, just highlights. I still like talking about it, but it’s just not the same.
There’s no way with a healthy Travis that FSU doesn’t get in.
The games are not played to exhibit the great fairness and egalitarianism of the NCAA and the TV networks, the games are played to make money, and FSU just can’t hang with the big boys.
If FSU wants to put on their Big Boy Pants, they should join the SEC.
My point is that when Missouri wins 10 games in a season, you know the SEC had a down year. They did not do particularly well this year in inter-conference games with other Power 5 schools.
I don’t like the idea of a month layoff. Right now, all the players are at the peak of an emotional high and it’s difficult to get that back after a long layoff and the Christmas holiday.
FSU, since the mid-60s when the girls school finally started producing decent football teams (and at least as recently as the mid-90s) repeatedly spurned Florida’s offer to support them in applying for admission to the SEC. They got what they deserved - it just took a while.
If FSU was betting the ACC would develop into a competitive league, they bet wrong. Now they have time to polish all those meaningless ACC trophies.
If Jordan Travis hadn’t been injured, FSU would definitely have gotten in instead of Alabama, all else being equal.
And I say this as someone jazzed to see ‘Bama back in the playoff.
That’s why FCS playoffs are better. Yesterday’s North Dakota State-Montana State game was the best game of the day across the board.
