Rolling Stone led leftist celebrations of Henry Kissinger's death with a brutal headline that labeled him a 'war criminal' and declared 'good riddance' to the 100-year-old statesman.
The outlet published a skewering obituary by Spencer Ackerman last night in which they said Kissinger's legacy should only be his 'confirmed kills'.
'Henry Kissinger, War Criminal Beloved by America’s Ruling Class, Finally Dies,' read the headline.
Ackerman compared Kissinger to domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber who killed 168 people, and said: 'The infamy of Nixon's foreign-policy architect sits, eternally, beside that of history's worst mass murderers.'
Leftists applauded Rolling Stone on Twitter and the magazine retweeted some of their praise.
Rolling Stone was not alone in its quick condemnation of Kissinger. Ben Rhodes, a senior adviser to Barack Obama, called him a 'hypocrite' in an op-ed for The New York Times, while Huff Po blasted him as 'America's most notorious war criminal.'
The White House is yet to release a statement from President Biden acknowledging Kissinger's death. Former President George W. Bush led tributes to him last night.
There was also vitriol on social media and even cheering on the streets of New York among protesters to the Israel-Hamas war who reacted with jubilation when an organizer announced Kissinger’s death last night.
Greg Swenson, chairman of Republicans Overseas UK, told the BBC it was ‘a bit much’ adding: ‘I’m not defending every one of his policy mistakes, but he was also a major statesman and did a lot of good for the world.
'Remember, this was the Cold War, there were difficult choices…there weren’t a lot of great outcomes possible.’

Well China praised Kissinger as one of the best friends they’ve ever had.
The kook left hated Dr. K because he let the military overthrow the communists in Chile and he pushed for bombing the Red sanctuaries in Cambodia and Laos from which the NVA launched attacks on our troops in VN.
How long before AI Kissinger is born?
He’s Responsible for CHINA’S DOMINANCE!! We should have never opened up China......we are SUBSERVIANT to them now.
Overall, he was a cold bad dude.
He passed away at the age of 100. Did he ever have a real job in his life?
Epstein didn’t kill himself.
Joe McCarthy was right.
The Ramones didn’t go far enough.
Rolling Stone is \not\ wrong.
China is the reason I don’t like Kissinger.
He advised Nixon to carpet bomb Hanoi and Cambodia and several other locales.
He brought the North Vietnamese to the negotiating table and ended the war.
At the cost of several 10s of thousands of lives.
Few times I agree with Rolling Stone or many leftists. This is one of them.
He became a Chinese Communist agent, his alligience was to them.
Thoroughly corrupt, made multi-millions working to further Chicom interests over the last 40 years.
He is the godfather of the swamp.
I think he was ultimately a traitor to the US, of which he was a naturalized citizen, having been given refuge from Nazis in his youth.
Evil disguised as urbanity and sophistication.
Worse than Klaus Schwabe and George Soros.
“Well China praised Kissinger as one of the best friends they’ve ever had.”
That tells me all I need to know.
but everyone is OK with Soros
In some of Kissinger’s photos from his younger days he looks like the prison warden in “The Shawshank Redemption.” LOL.
Now do Jimmy Carter.
To us as a citizenry, yes he was a cold bad dude. To his elitist friends he held no political party favour. Rolling Stone is largely correct on their 50 year long analysis of Kissinger.
Kissinger was brilliant. No other Sec of State since was as respected by our enemies since. I can think of few others who did more than Kissinger to thwart Soviet influence in the western hemisphere.
1. “War criminal”? Needlessly inflammatory rhetoric.
2. One of his lesser known but worst mistakes was trying to keep Nixon from saving Israel during the Yom Kippor War. Fortunately, the Israeli PM, Golda Meir, got through to Nixon by late night phone, and he overruled Kissinger.
