HUGE NEWS! Ford CEO Shocking WARNING To All EV Makers!
You Tube ^ | 11/8/23 | ChargeDrive

Are EV's a scam?! Ford CEO just abandoned electric cars, leaving the entire auto industry SHOCKED and CONFUSED! Ford is losing nearly 36,000 dollars on each EV they built, and could now close their doors forever! Why?
Because customers are REJECTING Ford’s EVs! With nearly 92,000 EVs sitting unsold on dealer lots, scammy dealer markups to fool the middle class, and 35,000 vehicle recalls just a couple of weeks ago, Ford is in a huge crisis!

I don’t know how they didn’t see this coming. EV’s will become more normal someday but it has to be a slow gradual transition taking decades. People will keep their cars for decades so any new or good used vehicle has to last and be affordable to fix as they age.

I see hybrids becoming more commonplace long before EV’s.

The bottleneck is battery technology. When they are easy on the environment, charge fast (under 10 minute), affordable to swap out, and last for at least 15 years, then we see EV’s hit their stride in the consumer market.

And it's peculiar how some Ford engineers are downplaying potentially dangerous problems with the braking systems on their F 150EV. Have they learned anything from the Pinto exploding gas tank fiasco?

Brake problems are not new to F150 trucks. 2013->2015 (including my 2015 F150 SuperCrew) have a defect where the brake booster/master cylinder fails. All of the brake fluid gets sucked into the vacuum system and passes out the exhaust. The first thing the driver experiences is the brake pedal goes to the floor....no brakes. Fortunately, that event occurred in my driveway. Unaware of the class defect, I put a full bottle of brake fluid in. The brakes returned for a couple minutes, then a big, steamy plume came out of the exhaust. Brake pedal to the floor again.

I did some research and learned there was a recall on 2013/2014 F150 for the problem, but not 2015. I contacted Ford. They hooked me up with customer service. I had my truck towed to the dealer where they confirmed the brake booster/master cylinder failure. Ford replaced the failed parts at their expense. We were lucky that it didn't happen when we were coming off an 80 MPH freeway to an offramp. Others weren't so lucky.

There are apparently more than 1000 vehicles needing the transition module my car needs - different Ford models.

Your situation added to mine makes me wonder if there is something going on to drive (pardon the term) us away from gas driven cars!!

Reaching for my tinfoil hat!

My job was eliminated. Six months later I moved 600 miles to a new job. Eight months later we finally sold our house at a $75000 loss and the family was able to move.

“charge fast (under 10 minute),”

Already at 200 miles range in 15 minutes.

“affordable to swap out,”

Newer batteries should outlast the car. Only about 1% of older batteries have been replaced outside the warranty.

The cost of a new battery is less than the fuel savings for a high mileage car.
“and last for at least 15 years,”

Already there.

Only 600 miles? I went 7000 miles to work a contract in Korea.

Can do better than that with a full sized 1/2 ton pickup. Diesel.

My one ton diesel, with sled deck and drawers loaded with tools (10,000 lbs) with no trailer or other load will do 33mpg. Diesel should be pushed more.

Good for you. Did you have to uproot your entire family for your previous contract?

——The Winner Is: Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD!——

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel

The new Chevy Silverado offers the best fuel economy for a diesel truck. It gets 33 MPG highway, 22 MPG city, and 27 MPG combined.

It was in the contract but then the Won crashed and we weren’t sure if Korea could make the payments as everything was in US dollars so my wife stayed home to keep up the house and pets.

Funny thing how most of the buying public doesn’t share your fantasy. I guess we are too dumb to get it.

“We’re the Edsels equipped with ME series engines?”

As I remember the story, the FE engine series rolled out with the Edsel. The early ones had some head issue that resulted in many failures due to dropping valve seats. That along with the “horse bridle” grill put such a stench on the whole company that they never recovered.

The Fords were still running the Y-Block engines, the 292 and 312 being the most widely known.

Tesla had a terrible 3rd quarter but still had a net profit margin of 7%. That includes a crazy amount of new factory construction, virtually no corporate long term debt and 26 billion dollars cash in the bank. The problem for Ford and the other companies is they need to make better cars. Tesla’s average cost to build a car is about $37,000. Why can’t Ford and the other companies do that?

The grid is nowhere near ‘there’.

If the batteries are outlasting the car then the car is a throwaway car.

Last I heard, the cost to charge an EV is much much higher than people think. More than filling an ICE vehicle.

The price of electricity is the same as any other product. Supply and demand will dictate price. As the demand goes up with more EV’s on the road, so will the price to ‘fill’ it.

Then there’s the new taxes state, local, and federal governments will have to charge EV owners. To do that they might opt for a mandatory GPS module that will track you and probably be able to shut the vehicle down for whatever reason they deem appropriate.

Don’t get me wrong, I see EV’s as a good thing when the day comes for them to go mainstream except for the loss of privacy and control. Some new ICE vehicles already have done that. Thankfully for dinosaurs like me, that probably won’t happen in my lifetime. At least not for me. It will probably happen sooner in the dense cities than in the more rural areas where EV’s may not be practical for a very long time. I’ll keep driving my 22 year old SUV and 18 yo pickup indefinitely. No way am I going to pay what they want for new ones these days.

I didn’t mention the added weight of current battery tech. I hope that changes too. They even need to run special EV tires for the extra weight because regular tires wear out too fast.

We’ll get there someday. It may not be what we envision today. Some new tech may override EV tech. Hydrogen may end up being a better option for some applications like big rigs and rural farm equipment but again, that transition will take decades.

I just traveled from PA to TX with my toe-behind camper, gross wt about 9.5k, averaged 11-12 mpg the whole way down here - I think it does all right.

Think that will work on EVs?
V-8s sell because of demand.

Y blocks had lubrication issues I think. Required meticulous oil changes. Still plentybof power compared to Chevies. Curtis Turner won some Nascar races using the Y block I think.

My dad doesn’t have any love for the pinto.

He went through a lot of misery trying to find an oddball AC pulley specific to that car. Through some dumb luck found what seemed to be the only spare one in existence.
