“charge fast (under 10 minute),”

Already at 200 miles range in 15 minutes.

“affordable to swap out,”

Newer batteries should outlast the car. Only about 1% of older batteries have been replaced outside the warranty.

The cost of a new battery is less than the fuel savings for a high mileage car.
“and last for at least 15 years,”

Already there.

Funny thing how most of the buying public doesn’t share your fantasy. I guess we are too dumb to get it.

The grid is nowhere near ‘there’.

If the batteries are outlasting the car then the car is a throwaway car.

Last I heard, the cost to charge an EV is much much higher than people think. More than filling an ICE vehicle.

The price of electricity is the same as any other product. Supply and demand will dictate price. As the demand goes up with more EV’s on the road, so will the price to ‘fill’ it.

Then there’s the new taxes state, local, and federal governments will have to charge EV owners. To do that they might opt for a mandatory GPS module that will track you and probably be able to shut the vehicle down for whatever reason they deem appropriate.

Don’t get me wrong, I see EV’s as a good thing when the day comes for them to go mainstream except for the loss of privacy and control. Some new ICE vehicles already have done that. Thankfully for dinosaurs like me, that probably won’t happen in my lifetime. At least not for me. It will probably happen sooner in the dense cities than in the more rural areas where EV’s may not be practical for a very long time. I’ll keep driving my 22 year old SUV and 18 yo pickup indefinitely. No way am I going to pay what they want for new ones these days.

I didn’t mention the added weight of current battery tech. I hope that changes too. They even need to run special EV tires for the extra weight because regular tires wear out too fast.

We’ll get there someday. It may not be what we envision today. Some new tech may override EV tech. Hydrogen may end up being a better option for some applications like big rigs and rural farm equipment but again, that transition will take decades.
