“We’re the Edsels equipped with ME series engines?”
As I remember the story, the FE engine series rolled out with the Edsel. The early ones had some head issue that resulted in many failures due to dropping valve seats. That along with the “horse bridle” grill put such a stench on the whole company that they never recovered.
The Fords were still running the Y-Block engines, the 292 and 312 being the most widely known.
Y blocks had lubrication issues I think. Required meticulous oil changes. Still plentybof power compared to Chevies. Curtis Turner won some Nascar races using the Y block I think.
