The receiver was definitely held by the defender. If I was the passer and I saw my receiver being manhandled I would have thrown it away too. What else can you do?
What if the defender had tackled the receiver ? Do you still have to throw a catch able ball to the receiver?

The Packers got a disputed touch down with review.

You guys don’t suppose that some games are rigged because of the age amount of bets on the game?

John was also complaining about the lack of a holding call preventing a lineman from getting to Franco on that play.

Maybe. But officiating is not the main problem. We all know what the main problem is.

Trust me, as a Lions fan...there’s entire videos on YouTube showing how we get screwed, along with calls that are just nuts that go against us - only for a rule change to happen for the next season (e.g. the “Calvin Johnson” rule).

In our last playoff game (years ago), against Dallas, the DB ran straight through our receiver, and ‘FLAG’!!! ...but then the ref’s call out “there is no flag” and just go on with things - besides the fact that Dallas players had RUN ONTO THE FIELD in protest (another flag). It was absurd and they didn’t ‘miss’ it.

The only thing I can say, play as clean as you can and as well as you can to make a bad call irrelevant - you have to beat the refs.

That’s probably one of the few outlandish things he said in his career.

Even decades later, it’s still impossible to review that play in slow motion and make a definitive call one way or another.

No, it’s gotten much worse. And yesterday, I saw three, deliberate ones, late in games, to change the outcome, within five minutes. And I wasn’t fans of those teams.

There are plenty of existing female fans of football.

But I guess it is moving the needle. My friend met a woman on a dating app, and she is trying to "convert" him to a Taylor Swift fan. I kind of think it's just a ploy, they haven't even met yet, but I did ask him if he has to be a Chiefs fan now?

It has nothing to do with diversity. Are you Roger Goodell’s mother or something?

I have no problem with women who like football on their own, who appreciate the game.

I just hate how the networks and the NFL now bend over backward to cater to women who don’t know the difference between a touchdown and a field goal.

I am not a football fan. Kind of the opposite, actually.
But I do remember Rush saying that the NFL was going to be dead in a few years. I think he was saying this about 10 years ago.
Anyone?

The Green Bay Packers got a touchdown they didn’t deserve on Sunday against the Broncos. But, I’ll take it. We still lost. :(

Having grown up in the Detroit Area in the 60s/70s the Lions taught me to be a cowboy fan.

Then the kneelers taught me to stop watching. However, I will admit I caught some of the game between Hurts and Tua (RTR).

I’m a Browns fan and I agree. The officials threw that game yesterday. Don’t know why they did it, but it was embarrassing to take the win after watching what imo were two consecutive bad calls against the Colts in the last seconds.

Talk to me about bad calls…

https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=5444048

RENTON, Wash. — NFL referee Bill Leavy acknowledged he made mistakes in the Seattle Seahawks’ 2006 Super Bowl loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The veteran official began an annual training-camp rules interpretation session with the Seattle media after practice on Friday by bringing up the subject without being asked.

“It was a tough thing for me. I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that,” said the veteran of 15 NFL seasons and two Super Bowls.

“It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly,” Leavy said of the February 2006 game. “I’ll go to my grave wishing that I’d been better.”

Several calls went against the Seahawks in their 21-10 loss to the Steelers. It was Seattle’s only Super Bowl appearance.

I watched the Immaculate Reception many times, never saw anything wrong with it. I have had my doubts about John Madden going way back, though.
