Ron DeSantis is the better man. But the nomination now belongs to Donald Trump
09/08/2023 | Drew68

Posted on 09/08/2023 9:20:57 PM PDT by Drew68

It is highly unlikely that Governor DeSantis will win the GOP nomination. The recent Wall Street Journal poll has cemented this into my head.

Yet, I'm sticking with DeSantis until he's out of the race, whether that be on Election Day (unlikely) or he ends his campaign during the primaries (as of now, quite likely).

I'm sticking with him because nobody else has the record of conservative accomplishments and stalwart executive leadership that he has repeatedly demonstrated. I look for action, not words.

This being said, Governor DeSantis has showed himself to be poor campaigner. He just can't close the deal. And as much as I enjoyed the victories, I think his "war on woke" has hurt him.

The best chance he has now is to pivot to economic issues, which are Trump's strong points (at least for the first three years of his administration). But Florida has a booming economy as well, with a record $22 billion surplus last year.

This pivot will be a long shot and is unlikely to be successful because he would be going up against President Trump's strongest attributes.

This will be an election on the economy and when gas prices at the pump exceed $6-7/gallon next year (and I believe they will), Trump will remind us all that we were paying under $2/gallon for much of his first term. This is going to be a big selling point. If Trump screwed up everything in 2020, he had a booming economy with plenty of jobs and low interest rates prior to that. This can't be denied.

I am resigning myself to the reality that the primaries are essentially over and Trump will be the GOP nominee. And if he is, I will vote for Trump because at the end of the day, Trump is better than Biden. Hell, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy are better than Biden!

It's a shame though. GOP primary voters would rather be led by a cult of personality than a true executive leader with a record of accomplishments. It is what it is though.

I hope Trump can pull it off. His victory will depend on Biden voters staying home.

I hope that Trump can learn from his many mistakes and not repeat them.

I hope Trump can reconcile his disastrous record on COVID.

I hope that Trump can beat back against the myriad of unjust charges that he is currently facing.

Still, Ron DeSantis is the leader that Trump tries to be and that's the truth.

And when he keeps bashing DeSantis with lies, it only shows Trump as the sad, little man that he has become. He should as of now, stop being be this sad, little man.

I hope Trump can rise above this. As of now, he will earn my vote, but he needs to become a better man.

He didn’t choose bad lawyers. They were all he had to choose from because the best attorneys refused to represent him. They didn’t want the woke mob or the bar association coming after them and “ruining” their reputation.

So enlighten us. When, exactly, did Trump sexually assault that bimbo? You must know. Otherwise you’d never post such a ridiculous assertion. 🤣

The first day he will be a lame duck since he can’t run again. And unless he gets the congress, he will rule with EOs.

It’s about agenda not personalities. Robs conservativism when compared to Trumps populism attracted 10% of Republican voters. Either you and people like Rob change or you’ll have to find some kind of Mitt Romney-like party.

Were you asleep for a while? Best economy and lowest unemployment ever and the wall that we'd been promised for 30 years at least started. All while the dems and half the repubs fought him on everything. Abortion is no longer a federal right. How many babies have been born that otherwise wouldn't have? Add that to no new wars and Trump saved countless lives.

Sorry you don't like his style. I'm not a fan either but he sure opened everyone's eyes to how corrupt our so called leaders actually are. He broke their ability to lead us into tyranny in stealth mode like the Bushes were doing.

If this is what you need to say to stop doing Jack Smith’s work and start focusing on the bigger picture, fine - welcome to the fight for the survival of America.

My friend was not arguing the point as a substantively true proposition but as how so many voters think. He had in mind his sister in law in particular, a woman who apparently is given to superficial thinking and who is adamantly liberal.

Ronnie has proven he is not the better man either. He is beholden to change his views or policies based upon what his big donors demand of him. That is utter weakness and just makes him like all other RINOs.

How is RD the “better man”? It’s easy to say that depending on the criteria you use. But if you choose other criteria, he isn’t.

Loyalty comes to mind. (But maybe that’s just me.)

RDS is a man of action. He was my preferred candidate going in. Two thing turned me back to Trump.

RDS sold out to the neocon establishment for funding. For me, that made RDS just like Nikki Haley sans skirt.

His campaign influencers on social media made Trump voters the opponent and attacked the very people they needed to persuade to vote for RDS. They affectively pushed any Trump wary voters right back into Trump’s lap. I am one of the people they did this to.

Unfortunately, America is past the point of hoping you will win if the RATs stay home.

The Democrats have come up with so many ways to rig the elections. They have been doing it to some degree for many years. But now, they really do not even bother to campaign which should be an obvious tell to anyone with a brain that they no longer spend any time trying to appeal to voters to win.

You can tell these silly polls put out that have Biden still in a dead heat with GOP opponents is a big pile of.

Biden is a disaster and everyone knows it, yet he can still get many more votes in record voting?

I don’t think so and the time has come to quit pretending that we can follow the rules as usual and expect the other side to do the same. They aren’t going to do that.

Can you inform us how his accomplishments of executive leadership, with a friendly legislature, which is how he accomplishes his objectives, compare to Donald Trump and his accomplishments in D C with a hostile legislature and the simultaneous hostility of the deeep state and the Federal government and the MSM?

And how do you explain the complete blindness of these forces who seek to destoy Trump, all the while not knowing that their real enemy is DeSants?

Or that DeSantis is backed by people, like Murdoch, who hate MAGA with a passion?

I am happy desantis is running

I like his strong statement of using force at the border

He has done a fantastic job in Florida as governor and he will do a fantastic job as president, I think he is the best suited to win the presidency over any democratic they throw in the ring

He is a strong smart person.

Ground games now are ballot harvesting. You are living in the past.

Even those silly televised debates are worthless in this battle between good and evil.

Sorry but RDS has a very weak demeanor. He was not well known at all across America. Perhaps if he had finished his second term he could have gained a larger audience. That is a big “if” because his association with the Bush entitlement group sealed his fate.

In my opinion that is bad judgement by those voters

Oh, so it's the voters' bad judgement, not the bad judgement on the part of the corrupt deep state/DOJ soviets? And the bad judgment of the quislings who go along with this persecution, or surrender to it?

You really don't get it. These are not normal times. If they take Trump down, we are never going back to normal times. If DeSantis, who I like as a governor, somehow wins the primary, or is handed it to him in the Convention, he will not win against the imbedded cheat machine. And even if he does, we will not go back to "normal" times.

They will take DeSantis down just as they did Trump. Even if he surrenders to every deep state/soviet demand.

You are stunningly wrong. If RXS left the picture, the GOPE would pick Trump’s replacement, should he be unable to run.
