The owner of a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat electronic vehicle (EV), Dalbir Bala, is claiming that EVs are the "Biggest Scam of modern times" after he was forced to abandon his truck on a family road trip from his home in Winnipeg to Chicago because of faulty charging stations.
In a letter posted on Facebook, Bala described how he paid $115,000 on the Truck in addition to thousands of dollars more installing chargers, explaining the cost is "not justified." He said, "EVs are only good for limited urban use, as a second car. but expensive second car..!"
He went on to say that there is a "lack of adequate charging infrastructure for EVs" and that free stations take up to 12 hours to charge, but the cost of using an L1 Fast charging station is higher than gas. He also noted that you can't trust them to be reliable enough to be taken on recreational trips.
In describing his road trip to Chicago, it took two hours for his truck to charge at the first stop and cost $56. On the second stop, both charging stations were broken. He ultimately decided to have the truck towed to the local dealership and rented a gas-powered car to finish the trip.
Bala told Fox Business that he purchased an EV because owning one is "responsible citizenship these days," and that he purchased a truck because he wanted to be able to use it for recreational activities.
He added that the government needs to do more to "provide consumers with the right information." Bala added, "People have to make the right choices. I want to tell everybody to read my story."
"Do your research before even thinking about it and make a wiser choice," he said. "The actual thing they promised is not even close. Not even 50%. And once you buy it, you're stuck with it and you have to carry huge losses to get rid of that. And nobody is there to help you."
Ford told the outlet, "This customer's experience highlights the urgent need to rapidly improve access to public charging across the US and Canada." It continued, "Ford's EV-certified dealers will install public-facing DC fast chargers at their dealerships by early 2024, providing alternative charging options to those available today. Ford was also the first in the industry to gain access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers for Ford drivers."
Last month, Ford Motor Company's second-quarter financial results reveal that the company is projected to lose $4.5 billion on its Model E division in 2023. At the time, Ford CEO Jim Farley said, "The near-term pace of EV adoption will be a little slower than expected, which is going to benefit early movers like Ford."
He added, "We’re making smart investments in capabilities and capacity around the world; and, while others are trying to catch up, we have clean-sheet, next-generation products in advanced development that will blow people away."
China
“Yet government and their fascist eco supporters do not want a simple solution. Why?”
Kickbacks and insider trading from pushing the EV scam.
It’s all about forcing people into not being able to travel and live more than 15 minutes from their pod house.
His Virtue Signal is pretty weak...hope he can live with himself having rented a gas vehicle for such a mundane selfish reason as enjoyment.
So, what's the gripe?
You've made your grand virtue signal. Enjoy.
Yes, the GOVERNMENT must do much more for us. We bear zero responsibility to do our own research on our $100,000 purchases. Dalbir could have lurked on FR and leaned all he needed to know to avoid his stupid mistake.
The name Dalbir is commonly a male name from the Sikh origin that means "The brave soldier". He must be a brave soldier in the fight against the Climate Emergency. Suck it up and take your losses like a good Sikh soldier, Dalbir.

EVs are NOT for long road trips.
Not yet, anyway.
Don’t know if they every will be.
I disagree ever so slightly with Mr. Dalbir Bala. In Canaduh, like elsewhere in the world, EVs are a VERY big scam.
The biggest scam in Canaduh, is the GUBMINT SANCTIONED IMMIGRATION OF 437,180 IMMIGRANTS AND 607,782 NON-PERMANENT RESIDENTS.
The scam is both on the immigrants and on Canadians. The immigrants are told that EVERYONE owns a house in Canaduh and should be able to get it within 3 years, and that all Healthcare and dental care is free, they get a lifetime pension at 65 and all kinds of other Bravo Sierra. It is a utopia, a heaven on Earth!
The hot air blown up Canadians butts is that immigrants ADD VALUE to the Canadian economy, ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH NO MARKETABLE SKILLS and who speak neither ENGLISH nor FRENCH! We, the taxpayers, pay the freight (welfare) for the MILLIONS of immigrants with no skills and cannot communicate with Canadians!
THAT is the BIGGEST scam in Canaduh!
Many Canadians are passed off with this Bravo Sierra and many of these immigrants are passed off with the Bravo Sierra spoon fed them by Canaduh’s immigration department! Personally, I know several Ukrainian new non-residents who will be returning as soon as the war is over. They are fed up with Canaduh already.
ALBERTA OUT OF CANADUH!
CANADUH OUT OF ALBERTA!
TUCK FRUDEAU!
The youngsters don’t mind spending 90 mins playing video games on the Telsa dashboard while their e-buggy juices up.
Even with a hybrid you still have to haul around a heavy battery.
At 4 bucks a gallon for gasoline, none of this stuff makes much sense. Unless you’re scared of “evil carbon” then it’s more like a religious quest rather than economics.
“ described how he paid $115,000 on the Truck”
Well that pretty much summarizes this persons decision making ability .
$115,000 for a pickup???
EVs are a waste of resources. Internal combustion engines are the product of 140 years of development.
EV pickups are not practical for what people use pickups for. Most people buy pickups to carry lots of stuff long distances.
What kind of twit decides to take and EV on a long haul trip???
It can be done... With lots and lots of difficulties and hassles. EV’s are awesome for a trip to the store... They are not meant for long haul and long hours of transportation. Give your head a shake.
“He added that the government needs to do more to “provide consumers with the right information.”
He’s still stupid.
“The free stations take too long”
I’ve found that the free gas pumps take quite a while also, you damned democrat freeloader!
Half of America has gone Woke...and the other half has gone stupid.
