Big Price Cuts to Ford EV F-150, Now a Mere $50K-$92K
Independent Sentinel ^ | July 17, 2023 | By M Dowling

On Monday, Ford announced significant price cuts for all versions of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup. The cheapest version of the Lightning will now start at about $50,000, a roughly $10,000 cut. All versions of the EV will get price cuts of at least $6,000 as Ford works to boost production this fall.

Ford claims their efforts to boost production and lower costs for battery minerals paid off.

Ford suggests they can’t meet the demand, but there is an EV bubble right now, and many unsold EVs are piling up on car lots. Companies other than Tesla have produced too many EVs and must move them. It’s supply and demand.

The company had increased the Lightning’s prices several times since its 2021 debut, citing supply constraints and sharply higher prices for the minerals used in the electric truck’s batteries. Ford has worked to increase production of the truck in recent months, with factory upgrades expected to triple its output set to be in place by fall.

CEO Jim Farley’s effort to boost production hasn’t been a smooth one. Ford sold just 4,466 Lightnings in the second quarter after a fire in a just-completed truck in February led it to shut down production for five weeks.

They are cool trucks, but there are issues.

At the time of its 2021 debut, the lowest-priced version of the Lightning – the work-truck Pro trim – was about $40,000. That price was increased several times, hitting about $60,000 in March.

The most expensive version of the Lightning, the extended-range Platinum trim, will now start at about $92,000, down from just over $98,000. [Oh, yippee!]

These EV cars and trucks are expensive, and in this economy, people aren’t going to buy them. They’re also not ready for long distances. Unless you’re talking Tesla, they aren’t selling like hotcakes.

Up here in North Idaho, you never see a pickup truck like that. They are all heavily used, usually banged-up, full of cargo, and dirty. Plus usually have lots of great bumper and window stickers. Here's one of the nicer stickers spotted a couple days ago at Home Depot...

Ford is a woke company and I hope they go under. I’ve bought 6 new vehicles in my lifetime, all of them fords. But I guarantee you the next one won’t be.

“Destroy a country’s industrial base and you effectively destroy that country...........”

With our stupid woke DOD trying to “go green” can you just imagine the troops in the field desperately looking for a “charging station” in some foreign war???? Or just as bad, the hypocrite DOD having to admit that in the field it must carry enough fossil fuels for running generators as it used to carry for the vehicles themselves. (or maybe they think they are going to rely on solar powered electricity, in the field, LOL)

Sail boats are more fun than any of the mentioned. Seems EV’s are good fire starters.

No one will still want them. They could knock another 40K off and they still will not fly ff of the lots.

Too deep for most Americans to comprehend. That’s why a destructive POTUS like Biden still dares to run for the 2nd term.
Just wait what the destruction of the German industry will do to that country and its guest workers. Expect swastika armbands to appear soon.

South of Sandpoint. Mom was born in Sandpoint close to 100 years ago!

I’m north of Coeur d’Alene.

My folks lived in Downingtown, PA for a long time and I used to head down to Wilmington now and then.

Had an old Ford F250 diesel. Ran one tank down, switched to the second and looked for a station a few hours later. Rated to haul 3/4 ton, I used to go to the local quarry and signaled the loader operator to stop when the tires squashed.
Ca removed lubricants from diesel fuel in the name of ‘clean’ air which killed the injector pump...

The bed is covered in dried hogs blood.
It smells of death by AR-15.

The dreaded “EV bubble” is like the dreaded blister from too much sun. Too much advertising promoted EV’s and now EV’s are flimsy, toxic and expensive gimmicks.
