A woman in Texas shared a doorbell camera interaction between herself and a pizza delivery man who was so dissatisfied with his $5 tip that he cursed her out.
In a video posted to her TikTok, Lacey Purciful asked: 'So how much should I be tipping for a $20 Pie??' implying that she had given her delivery driver a 25 percent tip on a $20 order.
In the video, captured by the family's Vivint camera, a woman answers the door as her dog runs out to greet the delivery driver.
The man, wearing khaki shorts and a dark t-shirt, pulls the pizza box out of its protective box and hands it to the woman, who says 'thank you.'
The delivery man then said: 'You're welcome, um I just want to say it's a nice house for a $5 tip.'
The woman, relatively shocked by the man's comment said, 'you're welcome,' to which he responded: 'f*** you' and walked away.
Online viewers of the video, which Purciful posted to her TikTok account, were overwhelmingly supportive of the tipper in this case.
'Tipping is out of control. 5 on 20 is more than enough,' wrote one user.
Others encouraged Purciful to get in touch with Doordash, the service she had used for the delivery.
Purciful said she did contact the delivery company, which she also clarified she pays a monthly fee for, in addition to any extra service fees.
Purciful added that her husband was extremely upset about what the delivery man had said to his wife, and noted that the driver could simply have declined the order.
Other online commenters lamented the exorbitantly high cost of having anything delivered these days, and how delivery fees are likely driving down tip numbers.

Should have made a point of calling his boss to tell him his delivery BOY was rude and don’t ever send him to my house again.
I pay 20% on the cost pre-tax and all the fees. And in a restaurant, I only pay a tip on the cost only of the meal only - never tip tax.
He’s the kind who will never be happy with his pay in the real world.
I would tell them the extra money for the tip was wasted on the delivery fee and other add-ons.
I make my own pizza, too.
That said, a 25% tip is the new normal and more than enough.
Considering the problems it seems to bring, I’d think it might be best to declare there would be no tipping. I always eat in or get it carryout, in my case. There is of course, a third solution that would put the skids to the tipping controversy & that is to make all pizza stores carryout or eat-in; no deliveries.
Is pizza delivery supposed to be priced so it is a lifetime career decision? I would think not; it never used to be.
Age of entitlement. These are the people voting for Communists to take money from others and give it to them in the form of "free" college, healthcare etc.
Not true.
A) I’m a very high tipper. I worked as a waitress in college.
B) we live in the country & I cook. I would also never trust someone to not tamper with my food. I also would not pay for that even if I lived in town. People waste enormous amounts of money.
They can't call it a delivery fee because then the delivery falls under a whole different set of laws.
What part?
It's the new normal.
The customer should wise up to the scam and never order from Door Dash again.
A sad excuse for a human. The kid will never be productive and happy unless he changes. Some folks seem to be incapable of change.
Why is it so hard to understand that in the USA you can gain considerable wealth by helping people solve problems? People pay money for that. Getting along with folks helps.
Hence the phrase “land of opportunity.”
Sheesh, what if we taught that in schools?
Every Friday, home made pizza 😊😋😋
Likewise.
My local Walmart pays $15/hour minimum, but workers might get eight-hour shifts, food delivery drivers will generally not.
A delivery driver probably has to be able to gross about $25/hour.
That’s probably about $1.20/mile driven.
Depending on state minimum wage law and local rents, the tip ought to be about $2 plus $1 for each mile or fraction thereof from the restaurant.
If the hour is late and the driver not likely to be totally busy, the $2 base might be made $3.
Door Dash suggests tip amounts according to distance. You pay what you want to. I usually don’t have the order handed to me. They’re supposed to just leave it on a table next to my front door. I do leave a thank you note and have even gotten a you’re welcome note or two back.
