The writings of the historian Plutarch form a significant portion of our information concerning the rise of the Roman Republic, and its eventual end. In one of those texts, Plutarch's "Lives", he recounts something rather strange--the appearance in the sky of a bright flash of light and, apparently, a cylindrical object whose color is "like molten silver". What exactly was he describing? Was it a UFO, as some people (apparently including at least professional scholars) believe? Or something else?

I am one of those earthlings. I buy into that.
Yep, planet ‘Australia’, filled with their unacceptable human trash. They left their crap pile to see if the trash could grow into responsible, capable, and civilized people
Then they pulled up in their shiny silvery orb to deliver their greatest gift, some genetic material that they called Christ. Christ was a test to see if we had developed enough humanity for Christ’s philosophies to flourish.
Then they showed up again in their glowing silvery orb, as a omni directional beacon to enable the believers to readily find his birthplace and celebrate the greatest gift to the world.
It’s the first documented case of human abduction and embryo transplant as well as humans witnessing the glowing silvery orb.
We can’t be the only place with intelligent life in the universe. Of course, if the see Democrats speaking in DC (Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson) they would know we aren’t intelligent, especially the voters of those districts!! 🤓

Not according to my reading some time ago - humans were made here not elsewhere in the tale.
I would suspect more like a galactic group home for the intellectually disabled lest we infect their society.
Yes, we are actually Golgafrinchans.
They gathered up all the hairdressers, telephone sanitizers, middle men, and other useless types and dumped us here.
They can’t come and check I us.
They died of a disease spread by dirty public telephones.
Well some of us needed to come along to feed you useless types else you all would starve to death waiting in line at an empty grocery store where no one works.
You clearly didn’t get the reference.

Yes I did, but you didn’t know the question. Ask the mice.
I thought it was clever. I enjoy references like that. At least when I recognize them!

Did Plutarch shoot any video of the event?
Heh...
From the 1970s -- Thomas J Gold: "But I am not really willing to accept your premise, because it may well be that the means of communications they have are of a kind that we do not know how to receive, and that they would not have the means of communicating with sufficiently powerful radio or optical signals. That is something which, technologically, is too difficult for them but they would have some other means we would not recognize." and "What we can conclude from this is that we must think very widely as to what it takes to develop intelligence and not take us so much as a model of what is necessary." [Communication with Extraterrestial Intelligence, p 123; Sagan editor -- CETI was the old acronym]
He didn’t, but he’s been demoted to dwarf planet. Wait, what?
Plutarch's 'Small Lives'! Lives
That is not a theory, it was a Twilight Zone episode.
Our plan worked!
Yes I knew it was Adams but not which book.
