I'm just frustrated. I have 2 older daughters in their 30's. I can't talk to them about any current topic. Everything I say triggers them. Today I got in a fuss defending the gallantry of Southern soldiers. Then I got in a fuss about being a culturist because I believe a substantial portion of the Black underclass in 5 times more likely to commit crimes and murder than other groups. 30 people a week shot in Chicago or New Orleans is OK but DeSantis is a racist. I just said I never see race in a competent individual. I just want to communicate with my offspring. Why are my values always wrong?

I find that a good Scotch or bourbon, neat, results in my GAF attitude towards the confusing politics of my family.
I enabled them by pulling the train, still pulling in fact, but there is no changing in them without their own failures first. And i see that coming, and say nothing.
Sometimes, you have to let the lighted match burn their fingers when they choose not to listen to reason. “Stupid is supposed to hurt”, I believe is the phrase.
You don’t have anything better to talk about with your kids than politics? Really there’s a whole great exciting world to discuss instead. Their lives, their kids, jobs, food. Really ANYTHING.

It should be “What has gone wrong?” With an added “how can i fix this?”
The answers are” The Universe “, and “no, YOU can’t “.

You can only respond to their questions, not their predicaments. I am sure you have communicated your worries to them

Your daughters feel rather than think, as such, discussing anything with them is pointless.
When my daughter referred to an unborn baby as “nothing but a mess of blood and tissue”, I felt pure revulsion at the monster she had become and will never feel the same.
Are you a believer in Moses and/or Christ, and do you know and study your scriptures? Everythink important in the way we frame discussions is in there.
