Is anyone gonna watch? This is something that you may only get to see one time in your life.
Most networks are going to start the telecast at about 5am Eastern time. PBS will start much earlier, simulcasting the BBC.
turn to BBC News. just finished baroque choir performance - showing gathering and marching of assorted ceremonial troops - now msic from Coronation orchestra in Westminster Abbey. did my eyes deceive me - thought i saw Jean Francois Kerry sporting medals.
Whatever Americans may - with justification - think of the idea of monarchy, I ask them to consider that what we are about to witness is a Christian service of great antiquity where a man will dedicated himself to the service of God, and to the service of his country - indeed of many countries.
This type of thing is a rarity in the modern world.
The “Cornination” of King Charles
John Kerry is attending the Coronation as part of the US delegation, and would be entitled to wear his French and German decorations if he chose to - I don’t believe he has any British decorations although I wouldn’t entirely rule out that a former Secretary of State had something honourary in the British system.
It’s like watching PBS with a British accent... the organ selection is gruesomely terrible.
Doyle’s coronation march sounds like an adventure movie theme...
I’m watching but I sure wish that was Diana in the carriage and not horseface.
I set my alarm to witness history. I’ll probably out live Charles but in case I don’t, I wanted to watch. When Prince William becomes King, I hope folks tune in because it could be the only coronation the younger people will ever see.
Keep your eye on the amount of horses that are being used, and the amount of road apples that are being dumped by those horses. Then walks closely as the marching troops March through the field of horse droppings.
I know that sounds weird but having been in a few big parades myself you basically step in s*** the entire time, it’s a good thing it’s basically hay and the accompanying escreta...
I was looking at some information on brit box about the upcoming coronation last evening. I notice that nowhere it mentioned that the coronation is also an anointing of the king as the sacred leader of the Church of England. Much like the installation of the pope.
Perhaps I missed it?
I can’t speak for what Britbox put on their site, but the King will be anointed - for that part of the ceremony, though, screens are erected as it is considered too sacred to televise.
It is considered the most important part of the service - more important than the actual crowning.
The monarchy died with Queen Elizabeth. Charlie is a perv and a disgrace. The Brits know it and yet it goes on. Replacing the Queen mother with the court jester.
The King is a good man and nothing like the caricature the media has tried to spoon feed people, and unfortunately all too many people seem to have just swallowed.
Have BBC world news on my big screen.
For all of the BBC’s flaws, they still do a good job covering Royal ceremonial events.
Were Ketchup boy’s medals American or N. Vietnamese? (He served (at least one side) in the Vietnam war, doncha know.) </sarc>
He had better gray rock Harry and the narcissist because she is hell bent on destroying them.
And she will destroy Harry.
She will eventually dump him leaving him suicidal and a shell of a man
But like many victims...he hasn’t seen it coming.
I find it odd that the queen consort is wearing naval colored trousers.
BBC mentioned that
You realize Diana cheated first and with multiple men, don’t you?
Royal protection officers were sternly warned to not “touch that”.
What’s Jilly wearing ???
Yesterday she wore Shocking Pink and the announcer claimed she was representing us
No way ….
