Gotta get a new job, and I wondered if they would want me to be up-to-date on the covid shots?
Any hints on staying positive would be much appreciated too! I'd prefer an office job, but 4 years ago noticed they did not seem to like hiring people in their late 50s. And I hear so many contradictory things that I feel confused (and more negative!).
Thanks so much!
Need more info... Where are you located? Any federal contracting by your employer?
I am also in my late 50s and am still looking for a new job. Most of the contracting firms ask about shots, but will shrug their shoulders if you say you aren’t getting one. In AZ, about 10-20% of firms (most with fed contracting connections) have a hard rule. State agencies do not require it.
I have had a couple of long (1 hour) application fill-outs where the check box for the shots is at the end. It is as if they think you’ll get one after putting in the hour?
Good luck on your job hunt.
Who needs the wrath of God to rain on their heads is any HR department that was complicit in this. The idiots in charge did not know better... being idiots. HR was 100% complicit. I would audit large company HR employees to see if pharma paid them off.
Lots of places have dropped the stupid requirements.
It’s the medical cowards who have not and continue to insist everyone have masks and all.
This is a phenomenal link for a Religious Exemption.
Check it out and reach out to Pastor JD’s Church in Hawai’i if you want it.
I’ve got mine.

I’m 53, retired military, B.S., MBA, no one will hire me in the DFW area. No Home Depot, Lowes, no one.
It’s like the lottery. You have to keep buying more tickets/submitting more applications.
I couldn’t believe the job offer I got.
Been there almost four years now.
Hoping to retire feet-first the second time.
I hated being “retired” for three months.
After awhile you don’t know what day it is because it doesn’t matter.
do not take the experimental vaccine
sometimes you will have more liberties or options working for small local owned businesses
also, old folks are becoming more desirable because we still have work ethic
It is worse if you are past 65...:)
Do not take mRNA injections.
I just spoke via phone with a relative who trusted Fauci and took at least 3 jabs, maybe 4.
Two weeks ago she suffered a stroke.
Now she knows she has blood clots and her insurance will not cover treatment of the clots.
She says she is waiting for the next stroke and it will probably kill her.
I warned her about the mRNA shots before she took them.
So.....Still want to take poison clot shots to get a job?
I’m in IT at age 79. If a person has marketable skills, regardless of age, regardless of race, regardless of sex, they are wanted in the US labor force. You might have to move from the jobless rustbelt city to a red state. But the jobs are there.
But most employers are not enthusiastic about “applicants” who make lame excuses.

Photoshop is your friend.
I haven’t come across many job ads that say covid shots are required.
Following this thread... I see many of us are the same age. Hoping to see more advice on job hunting.
Good luck!
Well, since this is a vanity post about jobs - I don’t feel bad about posting this;
I own a company and we are hiring. People in there 50’s are highly sought out - my best employee turned 79 this year. You can live where you want as we fly you to the projects and house you in airbnb’s with your other team members (private room for each of course). We install hardware stores such as True Value, Ace, DoIt Best all around the country from an empty shell (fixtures, merchandise, signage, pos counters) to remodels of existing stores. Projects typically are of 3 week duration.
We have fun, work hard (on your feet for 8 hours per day) and get paid well, along with the travel.
We require no vacs and tolerate no Leftism at all.
We have more work than we can handle

I know that during the Obama administration a couple of executive orders were signed that legalized age discrimination. Googling it I could only find one of them (13562) but I know there is at least one more which Freepers considered a victory (since it concerned government employees and I believe contractors), but that was until they had to live with the consequences, one of which was the spread of all things woke. Trump voided that one but much of the damage was already done. Anywho, I think the first one is still in force.
Perhaps a thing to do might be to go to area businesses that you might want to work for, and see if they have older workers (not managers, because a lot of them are too busy trying to be cool kids that throw their own cohort under the bus). See too if those older workers are reasonably happy, and if so, apply.
Nobody around here seems to be asking about the shots.
This is terrific—i have been invited to apply for a job! Thank you!
If I didn’t have commitments here which preclude traveling, I would go for it—it sounds like fun and visiting different places is a nice feature!
I got a DTaP booster so when they ask if I have been vaccinated and boostered, I say yes. If I had to get a Covid vax, I would likely get the Novavax vax, as it is the only one that isn’t mRNA.
