Elon Musk Slammed For Russia-Friendly Proposal To End War In Ukraine
Forbes ^ | 10/3/2022 | Derek Saul

The world’s wealthiest man Elon Musk faced sharp backlash Monday afternoon after sharing his thoughts on how to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on terms far more amenable to Russia than the Western consensus, continuing to opine about global politics on the heels of bad corporate news closer to home.

-snip-

Musk’s controversial foreign policy proposal came as Tesla shares cratered 9% in Monday trading, hitting a three-month low as the market reacted poorly to third quarter vehicle deliveries falling short of estimates.

The civil war should have ended before it started. I think too many folks in the US and Europe egged this on, gave Russia a green light, then kept Ukraine in the fight, wasting money and lives on a war that should never have started.

Biden won't go for it but they should all ask President Trump to go and negotiate a peace and settlement. End this yesterday!

His plan makes sense. Nothing like it will be considered.

This kerfuffle over a Twitter poll was so important you had to post about it twice?

Seems a rather cavalier way to respond to the guy whose supplying Starlink to your military.

(The option for “both Russia and Ukraine” is missing; Elon Musk, being a businessman, would naturally choose the option which still allows him to do business in both countries.)

Got any more decade-old memes you’d like to recycle?

(Also, you have it reversed; it makes it seen like with his true sight, Putin is actually Elon in reality, rather than Elon being Putin.)

I like that Musk isn’t afraid to express his thoughts even if it goes against the establishment narrative. Seems like in the beginning he was more pro-Ukraine, then after educating himself as to what is really going on with this war, just wants it to stop. I agree with him completely. Enough innocents have died and enough property destroyed, it’s time to bring this to an end before these idiot neocons exacerbate this to the level of a nuclear exchange.

Crimea was purchased by Russia from the OttomanTurks. It was part of russia for longer than the US is a country. A Ukrainian USSR Premier took it in violation of the USSR constitition and gave it to his own “Republic” in the 1950s. (Kruschev) We should support Russian claims to Crimea since it was purchased since that makes it difficult for Russia to saber rattle about reclaiming Alaska, which we purchased!

Earlier, in the 1920s Lenin moved parts of Russian territory into the Ukraine. After WWII Stalin seized parts of Poland and moved them to the Ukraine. Russia still holds parts of Poland, Kalingrad (Formerly a Prussian city.) Include those seized territories in Poland in the discussion for territories in the the Eastern Ukraine. (let the Ukraine AlSO give back the illegally seized parts of Poland Stalin gave to the Uks.)

Leave Odessa and nearby Black Sea coast to the Ukraine since they will need to ship their grain to the world.

Territorial grievences: how far back do you want to go?

Musk is merely re-hashing the Minsk I & II agreements, which Ukraine and EU agreed to with Eastern Republics - but never implemented.

Since 2014, Ukraine was taken-over by a coup of the most radical elements of Ukraine politics. Now that a war is on, and Ukraine is completely under the thumb of NATO/USA, there will be no compromise whatsoever.

To be clear, the Ukrainians are corrupt as the Russians and we should not be spending any money on them or getting drawn into a war with Russia.

How is Musk compromised? Get real, he’s just trying to be the voice of reason here, no different than Trump calling for negotiations. Scot Ritter is another matter and obviously has his own issues.

Wars sell weapons. Endless wars sell more weapons. Unrealistic terms for ending a war helps it be endless. The tax payers buys the weapons. Defense contractors sell the weapons. Corrupt politicians partner with the defense contractors by keeping the conditions right for more war. Regular people in the war die and suffer. Regular tax payers pay the to keep the weapons going into the war. The corrupt politicians and big arms dealers laugh all the way to bank...but scream bloody murder against upstart politicians like Trump who work to end the wars.

Formally recognizing the Crimean peninsula as Russian territory (Russia illegally annexed the area from Ukraine in 2014), ensuring a steady water supply to Crimea, Ukraine committing to remain neutral and not join NATO, and having the United Nations oversee another round of referendums to join Russia in several eastern Ukrainian regions, allowing Russia to overtake the regions if the vote passes.

Peacekeepers in Ukraine would be a good idea so Russia won't use the time to rearm and attack Ukraine again.
