Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Sorry to hear about Tom’s non-acceptance. I hope that wasn’t the only grad school he applied to, but IMO, he should have been looking for work, anyway.
Let’s hope he finds something soon, or that some other grad school accepts him.
Tokyo adopted me, bless her kitty heart. I’m just happy I could make her last years stress-free, and give her the love she missed all those years.
That could be Tokyo Rose if the eyes were bigger, blue and crossed!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
FS and PW are on the first leg of their journey. Little Rock to Charlotte to Newark then Lisbon. Today will be a travel day for them, but they’ll be able to sleep on the plane to Lisbon.
Me? Same ol’ same ol’. Just no sitting on the same pew with them in church and no mad rush through Walmart at nearly noon on Saturdays. Not much different in that, either compared to what it was before I moved here.
They’ll be using “burner phones” so no contact except on Facebook. Who wants to pay for international fees, anyway?
Good luck to your family members on their trip. I hope it’s as good as they expect!
Not a bad night, thanks. No cats.
I hope your time is peaceful. I will send you birthday cards from the mountains!
I’ll relay your good wishes!
I wish there was a Rent-A-Cat agency around. That would be peaceful as well as help lower my blood pressure.
Cards any time from anywhere are always welcome! Is this a place you’ve been to before?
Yes, we went around the same time last year.
Well, the first glitch has been activated in the Other Folks Great Adventure. The flight from Charlotte to Newark has been cancelled, but American wants to re-route them to JFK, which means trying to find some way to get that 17-mile distance taken care of, since their flight to Portugal leaves from Newark.
Knowing PW, she will find a way, and leave a lot of bodies in her wake.
Yes, I seem to recall last year.
My neighbor Mona, has decided not to park next to the red truck, evidently thinking I can’t get in it. Bless her heart.
That is interesting, I had always heard that the first filling for each feeder used the red food color to help them find it...
I remember him!
😂
Good show!
👍🏻
I thought that it was a stupid word as well... but we kept the streaks intact...
👍🏻
I’m sorry to hear there’s been a hurdle already. I expect there’s a shuttle from JFK to Newark, though.
We’re off to do a Spanish music concert in Steve’s yard. I’ll be back later!
Good Saturday Morning!!
I finally got to add one to my three-row column... it was beginning to think that I had abandoned it...

They say the rain is coming tonight...
🤞🏻
Yes, I told FS to check the bus system to see if there is a shuttle service. They have a five-hour layover in Newark, anyway, so it shouldn’t be difficult to get from JFK to Newark.
Oh, a Spanish music concert would be wonderful to listen to this morning! Enjoy!
It took me a while but here it is:

Yep. Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to start here around 4 p.m. and we’re supposed to have a few wet days coming. (I hope!)
So, I’m off to run errands now and then meeting a friend for lunch. I should be home well before it starts.
Better than yesterday!

What a cute little kitty-face!
Have a wonderful time in the mountains!
The rain you’re forecasted to get is a massive storm that is dumping or has dumped about 25” of snow in CO where my Favorite Daughter lives. I suppose we’ll get part of that, too, but not for another day or so. I’ll have to look at the maps.
Good job on the Wordle today! Some days, my brain just doesn’t want to cooperate!
So how many does that make for you? In the three tries category?
