Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

The Meezer is great. Cadging extra cuddles and hugs this morning.

Sweet, spoiled boy.

It’s vacuuming, mopping and litter box changing day, so he’ll be seeking refuge under the bed this afternoon while the vacuuming is underway.

I always put Tokyo Rose in the bathroom and shut the door when I vacuumed. Less stress for her, poor blind kitteh.

She wouldn’t let anyone come near her but me, and I could do anything with her. Including cut the matted fur on her back. He owner hated her, so when I moved out, I took her with me.

She waited on the door rug (inside) when I came home from work. And always slept on the other pillow. I miss her old sweet self.

At least it wasn’t a X/6!

It was beastly today, indeed! I had four letters right but none of them were in the right place. And my brain was sluggish, so...

Back from Walmart. There was no Great Value dish soap. It is the end of the world. Flee.

I keep being amazed at the amount of crazy. Your mention of the litterbox made me think of something I saw recently with a student at a school who was insisting she was a “furry” and was a cat and was asking for a litter box to be put in the rest room.

Fortunately, the school said “no.”

No Great Value dish soap? It’s a catastrostroke!

They didn’t have the kind of bottled water I wanted (out of stock) last night when I was making my list online, but once I had paid for everything this morning and set a delivery time for tomorrow morning, a delivery person showed up with the water at my front door, just as FS was leaving. Go figure.

Her owner hated her, so when I moved out, I took her with me.

Awww…adopted her but hated her? I’m so glad you rescued her from that.

I’m trying to finish a report in Excel and am getting “please cuddle me for a few minutes” head butts. I’d better cuddle him if I want to finish this. 😻

Was Tokyo Rose (interesting name…😮) a meezer?

I have a funny meme reflecting that, but unfortunately, I can’t post pictures from my phone. Not even from Photobucket which is how I always did it before.

People are crazy!

Tokyo Rose was gray tabby with blue eyes, so she had some Siamese in her somewhere along the line.

My roommate got a marmalade as a kitten and the vet suggested getting a playmate. Roomie didn’t like the idea, but the vet gave her a two-for-one price, so she took them both. Poor Tokyo was abused ever after. Chased with the vacuum cleaner, chased with plastic grocery bags, the noise of which scared her to death. (My roomie had two kids.) The difference in the way the two cats were treated was like night and day, with Tokyo getting the worst of it.

Because of her mistreatment, she hid a lot and wouldn’t let anyone near her. Roomie tried to catch her to cut the mats out of her hair, but she fought. And I don’t wonder at it.

By the time I moved in, Tokyo was middle-aged and well on the way to being totally blind, but she investigated my room one day when I was lying on the sofa (she kept to the walls) and suddenly, she was on my chest, purring. She was my cat from then on, and calmly let me cut the mats out, purring the entire time.

Roomie said, “When you move out, you can take that d*@%! cat with you.” So I did. She was such an absolute love. So, knowing of the abuse and the things that triggered her fears, I just put her in the bathroom when I vacuumed or when I had groceries to put away.

Fortunately, I have a hoard of dish soap, but I was distressed to not be able to get more.

Tom the Son wasn’t accepted at Oregon State grad school, so it’s time to look for a job. He’s not going on the campout, so he’ll have plenty of free time.

Wow. I can’t even imagine having two kitties and only loving one of them. How sad that your roomie was mean to Tokyo. I’m so glad you were there to love her and adopt her. Such a sweet kitty just wants someone to love. 🤗
