Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I used up all of mine this morning, but I think it was just burning off yesterday’s heat. It’s probably the most I’ll have for the next month, so I’m sorry I used it all. I’ll try to save some for you the next time. ;o]

Good morning. Happy Twosday!

I guess it’s not really Twosday since yesterday was a holiday, but the tradition must continue.

Mrs. ArGee’s late uncle got sent off properly by the U.S. Navy. There were about 14 people there to recognize a life well lived. It was a memory of a different era when people knew what was good and did it for its own sake.

This week’s off to a good Wordle start, which was needed after all the struggles over the long weekend.

Awww... My favorite kitteh meme!

Good morning.

After the stresses of the last two days, I slept for a seven-hour stretch last night and I haven’t done that in years.

I don’t know what’s in store today, but whatever it is, it’s going to have to happen here! I was asked twice on Sunday if I was going to the women’s luncheon, but I told them to ask today. The answer will be “no.”

It’s gray and overcast here. Maybe thunderstorms again today, maybe not. I’m still trying to figure out the weather patterns here. Even on the rare sunny days, the air is thick.

I never thought there would be so may overcast days in one place in all my life. Oh. Wait. There’s a sun bean!
