Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

It is true that tomorrow is another day, at least to the best of my knowledge. I’m sorry church didn’t go all that well. Maybe if you went to the Spanish service at St. Luke’s? (just kidding)

Thanks! I’d love to go to St Luke’s again! It would be very nice. Thanks for the thought. ;o]

Now, to do laundry.

What sweet floofs!

Good morning.

Did you have a good night?

Will you be having a cookout today?

FS was going to come over today, but he may have changed his mind after PW got done with him. But ohwell. Maybe next Labor Day will look better!

Haha! I laughed when my friend at Lin’s Grocery in Utah teased me about trading the high desert for the Swamp. I ain’t laughin’ now.

Good morning. Not too bad. My hip and leg didn’t hurt quite as much. It’s hot and humid here. I just walked around the block and unnngh.

We’ve discussed going to a car show this morning. I don’t know what’s planned for meals. I’m sure it will be fine, whatever it is. I need to look in the outside freezer and see what turned up while I was away.

I hope your son comes to see you!

The humidity here, when it isn’t raining, has kept me from many excursions. The COPD kicks in, which normally doesn’t bother me, and it wears me out. So not much in the way of exercise since I’ve been here, except in the winter.

I haven’t been to a car show in a long time. The last one was the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Vegas, when I still had the blue Toyota pickup, so you know it’s been a while — 2006? That was so much fun! I need to try and get the photos from that event off of Photobucket and onto my slave.

Mondays are always upside down for me, so I have to go wash my face off, and then see what kind of trouble I can get into.

If FS comes over, it won’t be until 1400 or later. Still, any time with him is good time.

Amazing what things can show up during one’s absence. Is Jake still in a snit?

*tagline*

Good morning!

I hope FS does indeed visit today. He lives pretty close?

I got a five as well. I could have had a three or four, but I thought “No way is it *that,*” but it was. 🤷🏻‍♀️

But I did have coffee first, zzeeman!

Thanks! FS lives about a mile from me as the crow flies and about 1.5 miles by car. He has his own business and he’s good about stopping in on his way home for a few minutes if he’s not too tired.

I’ve had to learn how to talk to him all over again because I haven’t been around him for 30 years. But it’s fun getting to know the man, rather than the child! Always surprises!

Good Morning!

Had a half cup of coffee before this one... I have to admit, seeing your “No way is it *that,*” comment, Allegra, led me to trying what I did on row three... so it is a three spot with an “*” today...

Good job!!

It’s nice to be rubbing shoulders, as it were, with the intellectuals, even if I can’t keep up with them!

I'm sorry you got rained out. Car shows are always fun. The work that's put into the restoration and/or modification of some of them is amazing.

...Jake is still mad.

LOL!

It’s tryna be sunny, but I don’t know if it will succeed.

In the meantime, I imposed another project on myself, and I’m not sure now that I even want to start on it today. Maybe tomorrow.

I need to get the movie list typed up, too.
