Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

If I had used my typical starting word, I would have gotten it in one try, once, but on a lark, I went with a variation of the spelling, and blew it. That day, I got it in two.
Congratulations on the three, ‘Face!
I hope everyone, including the Princess dog is doing well today.
I’m hanging out on the four-train.

Thanks!
Four’s not too bad, though! I like ‘em! How’s the Meezer?
Work FINALLY scuttled the masking BS, so I’m actually going to go to my office today, and tomorrow.
Had a stinker of a Wordle outing to land a four.
I guessed this 5-letter word in 4/6 tries.

Yes, we’ll all fine for now, although allergies will hit again before long.
Boy! Are we ever getting dumped on!!
I could go swim in the parking lot if I felt like it.
Nothing here. We saw a snapping turtle swimming across a highway overpass once in a downpour here.
The sky is making ominous noises at the Princess again. She’s not happy. It seems as she gets older it upsets her more, and she’s not even 2 1/2.
We got it yesterday. It was delightful.
Green is starting to appear.
The Meezer is as sweet, cuddly and lovey as ever. ♥️
I used to love the rain when I lived in the desert. I love the smell before and after.
Here, I hate all 53” + a year that we’ve gotten in the 10 months I’ve been here. So no. I don’t like rain. It does too many ugly things to my body, so I want to go home.
Waiting for my cuddly (I hope) kitteh.
(I hate this phone number I was assigned. Yesterday, I got 16 spam/telemarketing calls. Today, so far, I’ve gotten 10.)
My little wire haired terrier was like that. I had nylon carrier for him and when we’d get a thunderstorm, he’d run for it. He could barely turn around in it, but he felt secure.
If Thunder Shirts had been invented then, I would have gotten him one.
I’ve always liked rain, sun and even a good t-storm. It’s ice, snow and cold I don’t care for.
In this year of drought, I very much welcome and enjoy the rain. I’m happy for the farmers, the critters, the firefighters, the lakes, rivers and reservoirs and all of us to see a little green come back into the landscape.
I don’t like *too much* rain (Hurricane Harvey comes to mind) but I also hate a drought and the misery it causes so many.
I look forward to you welcoming your new friend!
I’m with you on all of this. This state is used to the rain in large amounts or it’s subject to droughts. I understand that. I know we need the rain. Ideally, I’d like to see rain and shine in proper amounts all over the world, but it doesn’t happen that way!
There is a reason why I stayed in the desert for so many years. ;o]
Wow…luck played a big part here!

I will never get it on the first guess unless I am extremely lucky some day... I use a set of starting words and even a random one now and then...
Pretty good downpours on Monday, and a couple of prior days as well... stayed dry yesterday...
