Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Yep. I agree about the brain working in ways it isn’t accustomed to with this game. It seems to be the hardest thing I do, some days. Other days, I’m done so fast it’s like, “Wha’ hoppen?”

The man who invented it must hate the world! Or he’s giving us something to look forward to each day. ;o]

Somedays it is my only win. :)

Well, off to the salt mine. I will be back on line later today when we have a lull. You have a good day!

You too!

You must have a very full life at this point, and that’s something I’m very grateful for! 😊

They actually came home with two kittens — littermates, both female. Cute little things. A gray tabby and long-haired calico.

Kittens! Their lives are about to get more interesting. 😻 Kittens are delightful, adorable and little devils. I’m happy for FD and Rob’t and for two little kitties who will be loved and spoiled.

You got it, though! 👍

I’ve X/6’d it at least three times since I started playing early this year.

Good morning! We actually had a few drops of water fall from the sky yesterday. It wasn’t much, but we’ll take it. The lizards, frogs and bugs, etc. probably got a drink out of it.

Ridin’ the four-train today…

Good Morning! We are grateful for the rain that fell yesterday... added to what we got on Saturday, it hopefully will save a lot of the trees... 🤞🏻

A lucky three for me today:

Nice, but doesn’t apply to some people I know.

Not bad, thanks. I’m glad your family members are recovering a little. It is a shock, of course, very different from a pet’s getting old and sick.

I’ve done some yardwork, and now it’s time for a shower. I wish it would rain!

A long-time neighbor - original owner, like us - stopped by with his baby granddaughter in a stroller. He was very proud!

Turns out, the kittens are ferals, and the mom abandoned them. So one, the tabby, Maya, eats everything in sight (common with animals who have missed a few meals) and Duncan, the fluffly calico is content to just sit with Rob’t. But they played, all night long!

They will fit in well, and Merlin will adjust.

Yes, I told FD this morning that the memories will be bittersweet for a while. She’s had Merlin and Binxx since they were kittens, through lots of moves and two husbands, but Rob’t is the husband who became attached to Binxx. No word on how he is dealing, but he’s the one who wanted to go look for a kitteh and he’s the one who decided on two kittens and he’s the one who named Duncan. Hopefully, his mourning process has been channeled productively, rather than to withdrawal.

I’m optimistic for all of them.

You got rain Saturday too? I’m jealous - we didn’t get a drop. I was glad for the wee bit we got yesterday.

No harm, no foul, and I’m glad Robt is taking charge of processing his loss. That makes it much more likely it will be successful. Giving the kittens lots of attention will be good for them all.

And congrats on your 3!

FD isn’t talking about Rob’t, so I’ll have to ask. But that’s common in grief. People don’t see outside themselves for a while.

Thanks!

And now, I’m going to go sort pills. I finally dug out my small fan and set it up so I don’t get so uncomfortable while I’m sorting. The kitchen has no vent, so the heat from the lights just stays there until it eventually gets circulated into the hallway where the thermostat is. Sometimes, that takes quite a while!
