Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I’m very happy to hear that!
Slow and easy. Naps are good! Naps with cats are better.
My voice is a lot better than it was on Friday. Not excellent, but decent.
Good Sonday Morning!
More four for me today as well...

Thank you. I’m feeling much better today, which is a good thing, because I did not put “Be sick” on the calendar for next week.
Good job, both of you!!
I’m always happy to see the results of the efforts of others — especially after I’ve posted mine! ;o]
I’m glad your voice is better, and knowing you, I can’t imagine you ever penciling in, “Be Sick” on any calendar! More prayers for you!
Thank you. I’ll need it!
Happy day of rest and worship to you.
I got to rest because oldest daughter took us all out for dinner today. She is quite the tycoon with her roadside tomato (and other vegetables) stand money this year.
I am proud of her as she has worked very hard. She added the Ivan tomato to her stand this year and they have proven very popular. So much that she has to put out a sign when they are available.
The plant is huge, between eight and ten feet tall and has provided some much needed shade to the rest of the family garden. She enlists oldest son's help to pick the ones higher on the plant and had to stack two cages together to keep them from toppling under the weight of the tomatoes.
Good job on your Wordle!
Excellent news about your daughter’s efforts. It’s such a good feeling to know that our kids are doing the right things, when they could so easily make other choices.
Good on you and hubby! <3
Good job with the three!
Your daughter sounds like a hard worker with a green thumb and good business head, not to mention her son bring a great assistant. How sweet of her to take you all out to dinner!
I love a good homegrown tomato, especially in the summer.
You probably got some credits for doing that - and it was fun!
I had two friends who were library assistants in my junior year in high school. It was great because if I was waiting for a book that had been checked out, they’d keep their eyes peeled for it being returned and let me know so I could snap it up.
Congratulations on the entrepreneurial success of your children!
My voice held out just long enough. I still feel better than yesterday, but I’m going to take some pills and go to bed, now, because I can.
So when oldest daughter heard about it she decided to take over. It has really been mostly a kid run venture. She and youngest son run the stand, oldest son helps out with the picking and DH helps out with the heavy labor and I help with the book keeping. Lily the Dog handles security.
But she was the one who picked the seeds, grew them into seedlings, laid out the garden and has done the planting, watering and weeding. Not to mention the selling.
I love books. I love the smell of books. I love the feel of the pages. Nothing is better than a book!
(Unless it’s reading a book while eating a still-warm tomato from the garden.)
Good for you!
I’m glad your voice behaved as long as was necessary, and going to bed because you can is an excellent idea!
I’m not that far behind you, because the chills are making me wish I had never gotten up.
And tomorrow is Monday, so there is that. I might set the alarm for later, rather than the early roust, just because I don’t have anyone who can do the laundry for me.
PW hurt her back, so FS is at her beck and call today. I feel bad for anyone with back problems. And I didn’t even have a heating pad I could loan them.
Sorry about her back. I hope she feels better soon and doesn’t mope around endlessly like Tom the Son.
Very impressive! How old is she?
