Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

No cat. Jake was pouting at the top of the stairs when I got up.
I’m going to have a shower soon, and if none of the driving brothers gets up, I’ll pick Frank up from his friend’s house at 11.
I just had my shower, and the water was tepid, in spite of my efforts. *sigh*
It’s going to be another stunner in the 100s today, and I’ve elected to stay home because I think it is the best thing to do, in view of the healing processes that I want to invite. And regardless of what Others think, I have to do what’s best for me.
In other news, FamilySearch sent me a notice that my paternal grandmother was four years old when her parents crossed the plains. Meaning also that she was three when they made the journey from Cape Town, South Africa!
I’m always excited when I can put things in their proper perspectives! ;o]
I completely support your doing what is best for you, and Others can go fish.
That’s very interesting. I wonder what a 3- to 4-year-old remembered about the ocean voyage and crossing the plains.
Good Sunday morning and a blessed Lord’s Day to all.
Dang, that’s my third three in a week!
Once again, letter elimination played a big part.

Excellent effort!
Thank you! Others won’t even contact me to see how I’m feeling so it’s no matter to them. I may as well not be here.
We sailed from Alaska to Northern California when I was about the same age, and though I don’t recall much of the voyage itself, I recall that there was a beach with hot sand, rather than one with cool rocks. There are other things I recall about the stay, but only one person is alive who remembers more about the trip than the two of us little girls.
So unless she had some very memorable moments (one of my brothers was horribly seasick) she probably doesn’t remember much of the voyage. It will be interesting to pick her brains when I finally meet her!
Others can go fish!
Sally sent me cat pictures ;-). Now I have to go pick Frank up.
Excellent work!
Blessed Lord’s Day to you, as well!
Exactly!
Frank stayed awake through church but will probably go to sleep now that he’s home. Me, too!
Tip: Save business cards of people you don’t like. If you ever hit a parked car accidentally, just write, “Sorry” on the back and leave it on the windshield.
Oh well, at least I finally hit it.
I am taking the day off. Except for cooking, cleaning and church I am just going to laze around.
I have a lot of those! Good idea, Nully! Thanks!
*E-vil laughter*
I watched the first segment but didn’t watch the last one.
I’ve got the S-L-O-W-S and tomorrow is Monday, so I’m not going to be around here much longer. Maybe about 40 minutes, then I’m going to try that sleep thing!
The Other Folks finally contacted me but for one it seemed more out of obligation than anything else. For the other, it seemed to be genuine. But it’s OK: I’m going to work very hard on not allowing them to bother me. It’s the only way I’ll be able to get this thing into remission.
I see where the temperature is supposed to drop by almost 20° on Thursday and Friday and a cold front goes through and may even rain on us. The grass is really brown, now. I make have to dig out my parka....
Good job! I got the dreaded X/6 today, so tomorrow, I start again!
I don’t do anything on Sundays that isn’t absolutely necessary, so I understand your feelings! It’s a day of rest, after all, so REST! ;o]
G'orning, y'all!
