Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Today, I have to get up on the stool and swap out the battery on the kitchen clock. It’s been changed out twice already since I hung it up.
And the stereo did its thing again last night. I think I know what it is, but there’s no way of stopping it except to unplug it, which I’ll do before I go to bed. What a bother.
Good morning. I got to bed a little before 8:00 during a thunderstorm, after reading a story about ruffed grouse in Canada to Kathleen. I dreamed about grouse and camping.
DP says we had about 2 inches of rain.
They live in Belgium. The two mother cats were left behind when people moved away, and they and all the kittens were taken in by the neighbors, who kept the two mothers - got them spayed, I hope - and this one orange tom.

Good morning. I’ll be going to the license-plate office with Patrick today to do the transaction on the car he’s buying from one of my church friends. I hope it will be uncomplicated, and then he will drive his new car home, and I will drive the seller back to her house.
That sounds exciting for Patrick! I hope it all turns out well!
I just stepped out to get yesterday’s mail, which didn’t come until 1700 and the heat felt good, but the humidity didn’t. Mona was outside with her dog, and I stopped to visit with her for a few minutes.
Coming back in, I realized I was wet, and at 78° indoors, I’m very cold!
