Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Good morning! Good job on the three, ‘Face!

ArGee, I hope your F-I-L is doing OK. Wasn’t he out weed-whacking a few days ago? Pretty impressive for someone who’s almost 90.

I managed to pull a four.

LOL - letter elimination played a big part. It got down to where if pretty much had to be that word.

Good morning, and not bad. No cat!

I’ll pick Vlad up from camp at 11:00. James wants to stay for Youth Staff fun activities, so I’ll send another driver for him at 1:00. Then we’ll do lots of laundry and take the bros back tomorrow.

That was more excitement than my usual day, and I don’t mind that. I’m too old for excitement.

I don’t remember if I mentioned she had another seizure yesterday. We’re still trying to avoid medications. The last thing on our list is prescription food that has some clinical evidence that it reduces or eliminates seizures. It’s twice as expensive as the food she has now, but it will be worth it if we can avoid drugging her.

He still does yard work, but not for as long at one time.

I don’t want to tell you how long it took for him to learn his new riding lawn mower when the old one gave up the ghost. We tried suggesting a services, but “he’s fine.”

Good Morning!

I’ve been surprised too... at the string of productive second rows.... they often lead to a good row three...

Poor sweetie.

I agree with you, in that medication should be the last resort. She’s a family member, so she’s worth the extra expense for a diet that may prevent seizures. At least, in my opinion. Nobody likes druggie doggies.

Turn my back for a few minutes and this place explodes! LOL!

The manager sent me a text to let me know my door will “probably” be replaced about the 20th, and that’s great news. LONG overdue, but appreciated, just the same.

She also came and sprayed for wasps and did a good job. I mean, when I went out a little later to take some stuff to the dumpster, there were wasp corpses all over the stoop.

Then I got a phone call and then I listened to an uplifting talk. Now, if I were a nap-taking person, I would really like to take one! But I’ll be having company soon. *sigh*

I’ve retrieved Vlad and James and his hair. There was a delay while the Youth Staff beat a printer to bits with a giant hammer. I deduce that the printer had stopped working.

Now the James are in the shower and the laundry is on.

Like the “PC Loadletter” in “Office Space.” What a great stress-reliever!

They do get stubborn and fiercely independent when they get up there in years. I feel for that; they don’t want to feel helpless or incapable.

My dad (R.I.P.) was like that until he drove his riding mower into a ditch at the edge of his property and got stuck when he was 85.

We hired a lawn service for him then.

God bless your F-I-L.

Oh, yes! A little focused aggression when things are becoming balky and stubborn is a great stress reliever!

Did you say the byos are going back in the morning? Or just the James and their hair?
