Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Oh, wow.
I’m stuck with nothing at the moment, but I see a senior kitteh in my near future. ;o]
I hope it wasn’t too hot at camp today!
Rest well this evening, and I’ll see you in the morning.
It was hot, but not as bad as yesterday, partly because we weren’t as busy.
See you tomorrow!
Ginger, MaryAnn, Lily and Evangeline were all adults when we got them. Senior animals still have a lot to give to their humans.
I don’t consider her a “Senior” as cats go, but she’s 10, so I guess in shelter-speak, that translates as senior. It’s OK, though. Right now, she has some problems and the shelter is going to address them before she’s released to a forever home.
There were quite a few others, but some were as far away as 100 miles and there is no way I could make that work. This one is in town.
Whelp, the party is over next door.
Back to bed.
Fluffy little sunbather!
Good morning. I hope you slept well after your hot day at camp.
It’s one of those times where I’m fighting with myself about going to church, and I hate that. I had a bout of insomnia last night, and even though I allowed myself an extra hour of sleep afterwards, I feel beat up.
I’ll see how I feel after my shower.
Have you heard from either the Elusive Bill or Elen, USMC?
I wasn’t sure I was going to make this one work, but I finally made it! *whew*

Nothing from Bill or Elen recently. We assume everyone is fine in the absence of other information. Tom has probably talked to Elen: their waking hours intersect, somehow.
No cat on the pillow last night, which was very nice. I stayed up a little too late, but slept in until 6:30-ish. Nothing on the schedule today except church and getting ready for another two days of camp.
Vlad texted me this morning to say that it was mentioned in the resident staff’s status meeting that the whistles from the archery range were confusing the swimmers at the pool, so would we please announce “Whistle whistle whistle!” instead of blowing.
Good Sunday Morning!
Hoping that all are enjoying the weekend...
They are calling for 107 F as a high for today, and say that we had 105 F yesterday... as long as the humidity stays on the low side, it really isn’t too bad out there...
Another good row two, helped me today:

Way to go!
“No news is good news.” Yes, I figured as long as there were no midnight phone calls from Someone In Authority, my children were OK. Now, it seems, age has softened them somewhat.
The shower was tepid, and I really needed it HOT, but it is what it is. I’m planning to do nothing in the next week, and maybe I can go to church next Sunday.
“Whistle whistle whistle?” And who is supposed to hear that? Shouldn’t the swimmers take a little responsibility in listening for where the whistle is coming from? Jes’ axin’.
Excellent!
Good for you! I hope your Sabbath is laid back and kittehful!
🙌🏼
Archery is a fairly quiet activity, unless all the participant and observers are talking. We’ll just to ask them to keep it down a little, which is better anyway, because if someone with a bow and arrow in his hands turns around to participate in a conversation, then we have a problem!

(Since I haven’t had one in a while...
