Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Smiling kitty! 😺
What a pretty kitteh!
Good morning. I hope you slept well.
Fireworks kept me awake last night. I’m thinking it’s rifle fire, but no, just the guy across the street. So I’ll be ready for bed tonight, for sure.
The doctor’s appointment has been had, with a stop at Kroger to get a prescription and some things that Walmart doesn’t carry, and then home. Mona and her dog took me. I have to arrange for an MRI and Mona said she would take me because she knows where it is. So maybe I won’t have to rely on FS so much.
Anyway, I’m worn out, and it’s not even noon!
Four of six today.

I give all the credit to coffee.
Yep that was my choice, too. I think I’ve finally hit on that second word that takes one more vowel but four more consonants.
There was only one vowel left! Easy peasy!
Good late morning, all. Happy Humph Day!
I had trouble getting into FR this morning. Site couldn’t be found and blah-blah-blah. But it seems to be all good now.
Well, at least FR is all good now. Wordle? Not so much.

Today’s Google doodle sure looked like Obama to me. I wonder if the artist did that intentionally.
Of course, I have no idea who that guy is.
I wondered a little about that, too. Some American Indian performer?
I’m sorry — but I don’t know what a Google doodle is...
If you’re using Chrome, it shows up on your main screen when you open a new window.
Thanks!
Oh.
No. No Chrome.
My loss?
I usually don’t pay attention to them. There’s some little known thing that someone at Google thought should be brought to the world’s attention so they put a doodle of it on their main page and you can click it if you want to find out what it’s about.
I usually don’t even notice them, except this one looked so much like Obama that I thought the link was going to be to a “who’s really running the White House” web site.
But ... not him.
Ah. I’m just not at all familiar with them because I’ve never ever used Chrome, even though it seems that “someone” tries to force it onto my laptop about once a week on average.
No loss.
It says he was a stand-up comedian.
Ah. Well, it’s been a lot of years since there was a good one of those, IMO.
So I guess, no loss.
Have a good night!
You have a good night, too!
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
Last night someone mentioned Independence Day displays done with drones. I looked it up and there were some interesting you-tube videos with examples. If it takes the bang out of it the dog will be very happy.
Back to the average for me.
