Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Lots of positive changes! Excellent news on the weight loss! And great news about the adult-sized table. I’m sure the friend with preschoolers is grateful for the small table and chairs.
When I saw FS yesterday, he gave me a postcard they were going to mail from London but didn’t. They were so tired by the time they got to Heathrow they couldn’t see straight. And FS hit the ground running this week. All the jobs that he had given estimates for had to be re-estimated to reflect the higher cost in materials and gas. It cost him almost $100 to fill a 22-gallon tank on the truck. But the good thing is that people understand and still want the work done.
I’m going to order from Walmart again this week and try to go to church Sunday to honor my dad (and my FS) and maybe, the coming week will find me almost back to normal again. That would be nice! Walmart is having a big celebration for “revamping” the store, and it’s all over Facebook. There is no way I’ll go to that place under those conditions!
Good deal for Patrick! I bet he’s excited! It seems like only yesterday I was staring into those hugh green eyes when he wished me “good morning” for the very first time. Hard to believe he’s all grown up and with a car and all!
Nice! A “deuce.”
Today was a bit of a trick, but I sussed it out in 4.

Looks like 90-something degrees today and tomorrow, then cooler 70-ishes for a few. Prospects for a reduced energy bill this month appear to be good. I’ve switched over to cooling mode, but only needed it Sunday, so far. Projected highs in the 80’s through the next 10-12 days can likely be managed by opening up the house overnight.
Supposedly I’m to be on-site 2 days/week, but the Branch Covidians are wringing their hands over case count, again, and have — despite the fact that the org has instituted IDE as set of supposedly guiding principles — re-instituted their “New Jim Crow” discriminatory practices basis vax status, and “Homie don’t play THAT game,” so I’m staying 100% Remote until the foolishness ends.
How is B-t-S enjoying NYC?
I haven’t heard anything. This is normal.
Well, it turns out he doesn’t have a car yet. The notary public at the bank said the DMV won’t accept the transfer without another legal document related to the estate. Mrs. F is going to talk to her lawyer about getting the document, and then we can close the deal.
I told that if she has to go Uptown to the county courthouse, I’ll go with her!
Yes, I agree — whatever we have to do to facilitate the child becoming independent. I’m interested to see how this turns out, not knowing anything about state laws, and such.
Thanks!
Only my second one. If my brain had been running on all one cylinder, I could have gotten it in one. Maybe some day!
Off to bed for now!
Have a good evening and sleep well!
The North Carolina DMV seems especially picky. The death certificate, the will, the power of attorney, etc., wasn’t good enough. She needs another thing.
Great to see that you’re giving ‘em Halifax re: staying 100% remote!
Prayers up that you heal quickly.
Thank you for kitteh w/cattitude!
G’deve ning and sweet dreams, y’all....
Good morning. I’m up.
Wow. In Nevada, when LibreOuMort gifted me the BB SUV, all we needed was to have the title signed by her. She included a letter, but it wasn’t necessary. (Oh, how I wish I had kept that car!!!)
What a precious face!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night!
I have that appointment for recertification this morning, and I’m not looking forward to it. But then, I don’t like stuff like that, anyway, and I like it less when I’m not at my best mentally.
The DMV here is very picky, it seems. All will be resolved in time, I’m sure.
And good morning. Not bad, for the first time in a while. I slept until my alarm went off.
