Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I slept pretty heavily for a while. Now I’m going to cut up some beets I dug up yesterday. I left them sitting outside in some water, and the greens have dried up, but I can get greens from another one!
I got a card from you today! That makes three now, and I need to answer before there is a fourth. Tomorrow should be a good day for that.
I also got a National catalog, but don’t dare look at it. :o|
I love beets and beet greens, and I usually cook the greens in water with bacon cubes in it. Decadent flavor, I think.
My muscles are achy today, especially on the left side of my neck and I have no clue why.
I downloaded 150 photos this morning. Evidently, FS didn’t get to the VW Werks on his birthday, but made it the next day. There were two smallish Lego VWs there, one in blue and one in yellow, one made of rattan, one made of wood, one wrought iron painted white and one covered in used postage stamps. Wish I could have been there!
These were all full-sized, working models.
I’m glad he got there even if wasn’t his actual birthday.
I cut up the beet greens and stems, cook them in a little oil, and toss them in a salad with a little lemon juice. Sometimes I put the beet roots in the salad, too.
That sounds yummy! I think I might like something like that, and I’ll buy the ingredients and by the time I get home, the desire for the stuff is gone. I don’t know if its because I’m too tired to cook or if it’s one of those “eyes are bigger than stomach” kind of things.
Maybe it’s because I have no one to cook for, so the fun of meal planning has gone out the window. That’s sad, too, because I really am a good cook. About the only time I actually cook the stuff I buy like that is when I want to make lasagna. I can freeze that, so it’s not like I have to hurry and eat it all before it goes bad.
I eat a lot of leftovers of things other people made, because a Scout is Thrifty. It annoys me sometimes.
I annoy myself because of the way I am, but I think when I go to Kroger Monday or Tuesday, I’ll get the stuff for lasagna. Freezable and tasty when reheated!
Plus, I’ll have company Wednesday for lunch. The Sister Missionaries rotated, and the old ones were from northern Utah while one new one is from north of SLC and the other is from Hurricane. Not kidding! So I’ll feed them. TV trays rule! Because my table isn’t together, yet.
And yet, another pile for donations is growing, so maybe one of these days soon, the table can be put together. Probably by me.
That will be very nice. I hope you have a nice lunch with the Missionary Sisters.
Yes indeed, but thickerer and richerer! That looks a little dry, but one thing it isn’t — it isn’t Olive Garden stuff! MUCH better!
Welcome to the Undead Thread!
It’s like Hotel California — you can check out but you can never leave!

They came unexpectedly a few nights ago, and it’s good they came when they did because I was almost ready to head down the hall.
Ward Members are encouraged to feed them so they have a home-cooked meal every day from someone. They’re not supposed to go to the same place more than once a month, and most of them are living on what they earned before they came into the mission field. Some parents help with expenses, but there are some parents who won’t help at all, so the Ward members adopt them while they’re here.
So. I hope you have a nice evening and a good night, with or without cats!
Since I hear the bed calling me, I’ll see you in the morning.
Oh, that’s really interesting. It’s good that you’ll have visitors and good for them, too.
I hope you have a good night!
Another sweet little floof!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
I don’t know whether I did or not. I don’t feel much different this morning than I did when I went to bed, so I’m guessing it wasn’t restful sleep. But that’s nothing new.
I’m waiting (as usual) for the water heater and may be able to take a shower here in about 20 minutes. Maybe I’ll feel well enough to go to church. I have a ride, if I feel up to going, so I’ll have to see how I feel post-shower.
The interwebs was a little iffy this morning and wouldn’t let me get beyond yahoo email until just now, or I would have been here an hour ago. So while I was there (on yahoo) I deleted or moved about 600 old emails. What fun! Not.
Not bad, thanks. I had to make several trips to the bathroom. Too much water!
I was just going to clean and refill the birdbath in the front garden, but Shannon is lurking in the parsley, “Nyark!” so I’ll have to do it later.
I decided I’ll make lasagna for the Sisters. I can feed then here, give them some to take home and freeze the rest.
No telling how I’ll feel tomorrow or Tuesday, so I’ll just order from Walmart. I still have to go to Kroger, but I may just walk. I really don’t like driving that big truck on these narrow streets.
Shannon rules. I hit “post” instead of “review” on the comment I was making so that’s why.
I only made two trips to the bathroom but there are usually three. Anyway, I need to go shower.
Maybe Shannon will allow you to clean and refill the birdbath in a while.
That sounds like a good plan. Lasagna is filling and reheats well.
I’m cutting up some cabbage that was sitting around the refrigerator. Then I’ll steam it a bit, so one can chew it! I’m trying to get things eaten out of the refrigerator so we can de-ice it, but some of the family members are not feeling it.
Good Sunday Morning!!
Hoping that it is a nice one by you...
