Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

But you didn’t bomb it! I struggled and struggled and got nowhere. Maybe tomorrow will be better!

FS grew out of his shoes every six months until he was about 17. Then I lost track, because the military was providing him shoes!

I completely forgot about this until my Star Wars fanatic friend texted me yesterday.

Frank’s shoes still fit, but he wore them out.

Yeah, that happened a lot before FS let his feet get so big so fast. But then, FD was going through shoes faster, so we ended up getting her some Buster Brown shoes. Sneaks weren’t made for general use at the time, only specialized for some sports.

I read a review of the movie. I don’t imagine the truths that are shared in the movie will be allowed to get out.

I always liked this:

“Darth Vader Strikes Back”

There’s going to be an extra scene included in the DVD release of EMPIRE STRIKES BACK coming up next year! Basically, it expands on the scene where Vader reveals his fatherhood to Luke, and ties up some loose ends created with the release of Episode 1...

The Empire Strikes Back: Extra-Special Edition

INT: BESPIN GANTRY - MOMENTS LATER:

A furious lightsaber duel is underway. DARTH VADER is backing LUKE SKYWALKER towards the end of the gantry. A quick move by Vader chops off Luke’s saber-hand! It goes spinning off into the ventilation shaft. Luke backs away. He looks around, but realizes there’s nowhere to go but straight down.

Darth Vader: Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father.

Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!

Darth Vader: No... I am your father!

Luke: No, it’s not true! It’s impossible.

Darth Vader: Search your feelings... you know it to be true...

Luke: NO!

Darth Vader: Yes, it is true... and you know what else? You know that brass droid of yours?

Luke: Threepio?

Darth Vader: Yes... Threepio... I built him...when I was 7 years old...

Luke: No...

Darth Vader: Seven years old? And what have you done? Look at yourself, no hand, no job, and couldn’t even levitate your own ship out of the swamp...

Luke: I destroyed your precious Death Star!

Darth Vader: When you were 20! When I was 10, I single-handedly destroyed a Trade Federation Droid Control ship!

Luke: Well, it’s not my fault...

Darth Vader: Oh, here we go... “Poor me...my father never gave me what I wanted for my birthday... boo hoo, my daddy’s the Dark Lord of the Sith...waahhh wahhh!”

Luke: Shut up...

Darth Vader: You’re a slacker! By the time I was your age, I had exterminated the Jedi knights!

Luke: I used to race my T-16 through Beggar’s Canyon

Darth Vader: Oh, for the love of the Emperor...10 years old, winner of the Boonta Eve Open... Only human to ever fly a Pod Racer... right here, baby!

Luke looks down the shaft. Takes a step towards it.

Darth Vader: And at your age, I’d made out with a member of the Senate who wasn’t also my sister.

Luke gets a confused look on his face.

Darth Vader: I was wrong... You’re not my kid...I don’t know whose you are, but you sure ain’t mine...

Luke takes a step off the platform, hesitates, then plunges down the shaft. Darth Vader looks after him.

Darth Vader: Get a haircut!

Luke shouting back from the shaft - his voice is fading - : at least I don’t use a respiratory machine to make me sound like JamesEarlJones!!!

It is pretty good, worth seeing.

I think that the limited engagement (”private screenings”) are done, but I think that it is/will be available online, and a DVD will also be available.

At our screening in Waco, the theater was packed full, not sure what the capacity of that one was.

Noticed a fair number of “Let’s Go Brandon” bumper stickers...

😉

Frank is wearing 9-1/2 now, which is small compared to his brothers but indicates a lot of growth ahead.

Jake is acting like he has an infection. Tom’s going to take him to the vet for an antibiotic shot tomorrow afternoon. Dumbcat.

LOL! I watched the clip on “Let’s Go Brandon,” and thought I’d laugh myself silly. I still have to laugh when I see it, anywhere in print.

I saw where they were pre-ordering the DVDs for Dinesh’s movie, but I didn’t even check to see the cost. I’ll just wait six months and see if they show up on Thiftbooks.com for a price I can afford.

Yepper. Byos’ feets grow pretty fast for quite some time during their teen years.

We’ve been having thunderstorms off and on all day (mostly on) and I will always hate them. I used to love them as a kid because they were so infrequent, but my first year married, I spent part of it in SD and learned to hate T-storms in a hurry.

In other news, the Mother’s Day Bunneh and the Birthday Bunneh both arrived via UPS, but one was a dead giveaway — one I wasn’t supposed to open until next Sunday (not this one) and the other was from Godiva Chocolates, so what was I supposed to do? ;o]

I prefer the bonbons, but this is a sampler of a different kind, so I’m really trying to use restraint. Honest.

FS had a tooth pulled today, so I hope the worst of his pain is over with by the time they leave for Europe on the 21st. He was complaining yesterday, but he still got the frame together. (It would have taken me three days, but I most definitely would not have been able to put the mattress on the frame by myself!) Bless his heart. I feel worse than ever for him, now.
