A blast from the past, I know Carole is a big lib, but I remember this song being played at the Tik-Tok cafe at the downtown Pittsburgh Kaufnanns.

I didn't eat my whole hamburger, and mom said, "if you want dessert, you have to eat the rest of meat(hamburger)"

From the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, Fandango. One of many greats on that soundtrack.

An uneaten hamburger. Good description of this song.

Great, great, song from a groundbreaking album. To me, it evokes that time when the country was transitioning from the 1960’s to the 70’s. At the time, I myself was going from my childhood to my early teens.

The only song of hers I liked, but I don’t want to hear it any more. I hate her screeching on So Far Away.

Toni Stern told author Sheila Weller that she wrote the lyrics in a single day, after her love affair with James Taylor ended.[6][7]

Same title, different song. This is masterfully arranged, making effective use of background singers and a celeste--one of the finest tunes to come out of Ahmet Ertegün's Atlantic diskery.

Beautiful lyrics for anyone that’s every had a love affair go south.

My sister was Roomies with Carole’s Granddaughter when they were in college. My sister got to spend a holiday weekend with the Granddaughter and her family...with ‘Grandma Carole’ playing and singing for everyone one evening.

A great memory for my sister, for sure.

Classic! I still use this song with my students to illustrate the sound of the Fender Stratocaster-unmistakable!

She is known as the Carole King of the 1970s who was an artist in her own right and well deserved.

But I think of her more generally as a composer. Here are just some of the songs she wrote early on before her solo career. Carole wrote the music and Goffin wrote the lyrics. Not bad.

“Chains” (later recorded by the Beatles)
“The Loco-Motion”
“Will You Love Me Tomorrow” Shirelles
“Keep Your Hands off My Baby”
“Take Good Care of My Baby” Bobby Vee
“Up on the Roof” Drifters
“I’m into Something Good” Earl-Jean / Herman’s Hermits)
“One Fine Day” the Chiffons
“Don’t bring me down” the Animals
“Pleasant Valley Sunday” the Monkees

Carole King.

Never understood the attraction. Silly, stupid, shallow, self-centered person, silly, stupid, shallow, self-centered songs.

Roger Waters is a dope, but who can deny the music? Neil young: total goofball, but what a talent!

With Carole you get everything bad in one ugly-ass package.

For goodness’ sake if it wasn’t Carly Simon’s parents’ money backing James Taylor, his covers would never have made her almost famous.

She’s no friend of mine, anyway.

Whenever I hear this song, I think of a chronically depressed ex girlfriend of mine who would mope around the house in her blanket whining about the cruel world outside.
