Pressure builds against doctors peddling false virus claims

They have decried COVID-19 as a hoax, promoted unproven treatments and pushed bogus claims about the vaccine, including that the shots magnetize the human body.

The purveyors of this misinformation are not shadowy figures operating in the dark corners of the internet. They are a small but vocal group of doctors practicing medicine in communities around the country. Now medical boards are under increasing pressure to act. Organizations that advocate for public health have called on them to take a harder line by disciplining the doctors, including potentially revoking their licenses. The push comes as the pandemic enters a second winter and deaths in the U.S. top 800,000.

At least a dozen regulatory boards in states such as Oregon, Rhode Island, Maine and Texas recently issued sanctions against some doctors, but many of the most prolific promoters of COVID-19 falsehoods still have unblemished medical licenses.

There may be a downside to free speech in that people can share all sorts of crazy ideas and even present them as facts. But I’d much rather face this risk than the rich, powerful, and influential of the world dictating what speech is allowed.

This article cites some crazy ideas, such as vaccines magnetizing people so that keys will stick to their foreheads. That’s nuts.

But reasonable opinions are also treated with equal contempt, such as the protocols for Covid at hospitals killing people. They are, and they have.

Oh, it's everyone's fault. Then I guess that makes it OK to cause illness and death in tens of thousands of people. Society at large is causing the misery with their greedy investments in 401Ks - it's not the top brass or the boardroom's fault.

BTW, do some more research on the history of opposition to vaccines and you’ll find these complaints about vaccines haven’t varied since the first vaccines in 1790. Now, they claim the vaccines are poison and will destroy your body, back then they claimed vaccines were made out of the blood of rats and bat feces and would turn you into a cow.

But the thing is, vax shill, you can't compare this chemical compound with the vaccines of the past. And we ain't your daddy's 'anti-vaxxer', as much as you would like to paint us thusly.

There are a few Doctors here on FR that work in the field with Covid patients even. They are sometimes referred to as quacks, murderers, shills, fake, liars, employees of any number of organizations like the CDC, Fauci, China, Pfizer, Moderna.

I had a long talk (for a doctor’s office visit) with my doctor. I asked her about that vax when it was first introduced, telling her that 1) it wasn’t a ‘vaccine,’ and 2) I was uneasy with getting one because of my medical profile.

She agreed. “It isn’t a vaccine, and I’m a bit of an outlier on the subject and treatment (e.g., the party line on treatment).” She also told me that she agreed about my profile and that I probably shouldn’t get the ‘vaccination.’ She has never wavered from that.
