I know he was legally allowed to have a gun that evening but is there still controversy surrounding it’s purchase and sale?
If I recall I think he loaned the money to buy it to someone over 18 to purchase it. They said they would go through an FFL to transfer it to him when he came of age. Not sure if that counts as a “straw purchase” since they also claimed it was kept in the safe of the person who bought it and lent to Rittenhouse that evening.
My understanding is the Kyle has his own but the one he used that night belonged to his friend.
Wisconsin rule is that under 18 can’t possess generally, but there is an exception for over 16 in that they can possess long guns.
So it was down to the length of the barrel which, in this case, was long enough for it to be characterized as a long gun.
Hence, judge dismissed the charge.
Drop the nonsense.
Yes. His possession of the firearm is not in question.
You’re the first person to even think of that!
Why didn’t the prosecutor think of it?!

it wasn’t a charge and they threw everything they could at him.
the entire legal team would benefit from a good old fashioned horse whipping! Lying crooked SOBs all of em
kyle was legal to have it.
what law was broken?
Yes, and the testimony about this is on video so one can go watch it. From memory; Rittenhouse testified that his friend, I cannot remember his name, bought the AR for Rittenhouse with the agreement that once Rittenhouse turned 18, when he could legally purchase an AR, then they would do a private transfer of ownership.
It was a Straw Purchase.
Kyle testified to it when he was on the stand and his friend as been charged.
Kyle was 17. He was not old enough to purchase any gun. He admitted he gave his friend money for the AR15 and his friend was holding it for Kyle until the age of 18.
The gun remained in Wisconsin in his friend’s Dad’s gun safe until the night of the riots.
DIdn’t the feds used straw purchases in Fast and Furious? So they’re legal.
If his friend said I bought the gun and I was holding it for him until he reached 18 and then I was going to give it to him.
That’s not legal?
yes.
Next question.
Yes there is. Find it on MSNBC and CNN. The controversy isn't grounded in law, but rather anti-white, media propaganda.
The firearm never crossed state lines. It was purchased in Kenosha and stayed there.
The gun didn’t leave Wisconsin until after the event when the police told him to go home and he turned the weapon into the Antioch police. His crossing state lines with the rifle before the event was a media lie
LEGALLY PURCHASED, LEGALLY TRANSFERRED TO RITTENHOUSE POSSESION.
I think its legal. But as a long time member of FR I find asking others for input on subject matter sometimes helps out when I discuss these subject with others. So for those with constructive responses , thank you. Other , more paranoid folks, piss off.
Kyle’s friend Dominic was charged months ago for the Straw Purchase.
I think a plea deal is done or in the works as Dominic also admits to purchasing the firearm for Kyle from money given to him by Kyle.
I’m not a Lawyer, just passing along what I know.
It seems innocent enough, hope Dominic’s Lawyer can sort it out.
Kyle's friend, Dominick Black, testified under oath in open court that he bought the S&W M&P 15 with Kyle's money, and at the direction of Kyle.
That, my FRiend, is a straw purchases.
Is Dominick Black being charged with a straw purchase? No, I don't think so because he was on the hook for three counts of furnishing a deadly weapon to a person under 18 that was discharged and harmed or killed someone. Black was looking at 6 years for each count.
When the judge rightly dismissed Kyle's minor in possession of a deadly weapon charge, those charges against Dominick Black also disappeared.
Will Dominick Black be charged with a straw purchase in the future? Perhaps, but that charge would have to come from the ATF, because there is no "straw purchase" law. The law being broken is lying on the ATF Form 4473 when you swear that you are buying the gun for yourself.
Lying on a 4473 is not a state matter.
