Bronze Age Tarim mummies aren't who scientists thought they were

The mysterious Tarim mummies of China's western Xinjiang region are relics of a unique Bronze Age culture descended from Indigenous people, and not a remote branch of early Indo-Europeans, according to new genetic research.

The new study upends more than a century of assumptions about the origins of the prehistoric people of the Tarim Basin whose naturally preserved human remains, desiccated by the desert, suggested to many archaeologists that they were descended from Indo-Europeans who had migrated to the region from somewhere farther west before about 2000 B.C.

I wonder what this woman died from. She was obviously not old, judging from the lush dark hair. And looking at her bone structure, she must have been absolutely beautiful when alive.

Thanks SteveH. Sound like the Chinese agitprop machine churning out more BS. Decades ago a piece of fired pottery from that culture was found with the potter's fingerprints intact. One of the Chinese supervisors (non-scientists who monitor any international presencee in archaeology in China) asked if it were possible to determine ethnicity from fingerprints. "I don't know" came the response of the foreign science writer, and the artifact basically disappeared.

The fact that culturally they fit the I-E milieu, and that the I-E's last big move (so far) began in Central Asia, shows that they are. This is just one of those "ancient Egypt didn't have slaves" and "pederasts are all self-described heterosexuals" kinds of BS that will now become part of the chant in schools.

>>That mummy whose picture is in the article looks much better than Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters.<<

Laz & Billy Clinton would fight over first rights to hit it.
