Oct. 25, 2021 -- People who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 are not only less likely to die from the virus, but they’re also less likely to die from any cause in the months following vaccination, according to a new study.
The study team, which included researchers from the CDC and health care groups across seven states, found the results while studying the safety of the three authorized COVID-19 vaccines.
The results were published Friday in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
“COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States have shown again and again to be safe. This study also confirms their safety,” Stanley Xu, who led the study team and is a researcher at the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research and Evaluation, told CNN.
“In fact, it shows that people vaccinated for COVID-19 had lower death rates than those who were not vaccinated, even when COVID deaths were excluded,” he said. “That’s in addition to the mounting evidence from other studies showing that the COVID-19 vaccines are effective against COVID-19 infection, serious illness, and death.”
The research team studied 11 million people, including 6.4 million people who had been vaccinated against COVID-19 and 4.6 million people who had received flu shots in recent years but hadn’t received a COVID-19 vaccine. They filtered out anyone who had died from COVID-19 to analyze the non-coronavirus deaths.
Between December 2020 to July 2021, COVID-19 vaccine recipients had lower rates of non-COVID-19 mortality than unvaccinated people, including adjustments for age, race and ethnicity, sex, and geographic location.
Those who received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine were 34% as likely to die from non-coronavirus causes in the months after vaccination as unvaccinated people. Those who received two doses of the Moderna vaccine were 31% as likely to die as unvaccinated people, and those who received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine were 54% as likely to die.
One explanation could be that people who get vaccinated, in general, tend to be healthier than people who don’t, the researchers said, noting that they plan to study this more in the future.
“There is no increased risk for mortality among COVID-19 vaccine recipients,” they wrote. “This finding reinforces the safety profile of currently approved COVID-19 vaccines in the United States.”
More than 220 million people in the U.S. have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, according to the latest CDC data updated Sunday . More than 77% of ages 12 and older have received a shot, and 67% are considered fully vaccinated.
What are the long term effects?
Not only that but it slices and dices!
Slices, dices, purees and whips, all for only $19.99.
Maybe it’s because in the months following vaccination, people are more cautious. They’ve had 30 or 45 days of behavioral modification during the vaccination process, aware that they are still vulnerable to infection until the vaccine can kick in, and that may carry on for several months afterwards in avoiding groups of strangers, personal hygiene, etc.. Whereas, risktakers have no rationale to modify their behavior, and may in fact, be more prone to expose themselves to groups of strangers. And then there’s the age factor - the older and wiser are more vaccinated and the young and bullet proof aren’t.
Happy to see the 67% overall.
Jim Jones: “Drink the Kool-Aid.”
The CDC: “Get injected with the Kool-Aid.”
Does anyone really believe that 77% of all adults in this country have had at least one shot? I don’t. I’m sure it is about 50%, but 77% Just doesn’t add up. When you think about how they were practically begging people to get vaccinated early on in the year was the initial Surge died off in the mass vaccination sites closed earlier than expected.
Well, whatever the reason.. the vaccine reduces your odds of dying a horrible death from COVID. So there is still that.
So much for mass die-offs if you take the vaccine.
Oh, thought it was Bab-bea.
Bingo! We have a Winner.
And they still say the jab is the only way out? Out where?
Does it make Julienne fries?
What was puzzling was that the researchers didn't disclose the COVID19 morbidity rates.
I mean, they HAD the data, right there, in their data set and their statistics package...so why didn't they produce the results? Inquiring minds wanna know...
I looked into backing out the COVID19 fatalities from their disclosure, but the way the researchers presented the results it's impossible to do...it's almost as if they worked overtime to present their non-COVID19 results in a way that obscured the COVID19 fatalities. Parenthetically, per the study although deaths associated with COVID-19 were excluded, causes of death were not assessed. It is possible that the algorithm used might have misclassified some deaths associated with COVID-19 because of lack of testing or because individual mortality reviews were not conducted.
In addition, if people not taking the shots didn't also get a flu shot, they were dropped from the study. Thus all people in this study either had the COVID19 shot OR were vaxxed for influenza. It'd be interesting to see how the non-influenza vaxxed folks fared.
Shirley you can’t be serious!
But all the people keeling over within a couple of weeks of either jab count as deaths among the unvaxxed, not the other way around. IIRC the Medicare CMS database from official medical charts had that at 48k. That alone would put a heavy weight on the count of the supposed unjabbed.
They couldn’t get them to get the jabs for lottery cash or other free sh*t, but maybe they’ll show up for eternal life.
So assumably this vaccine makes you less likely to die of a heart attack or cancer. Itreallyis a.miracle drug. Too bad it only lasts a few months. But that’s what boosters are for yayyyyy. What a crock of bovine excrement.
This would be one of those cases of correlation not necessarily being causation. Of “any” cause? The vaccines are not the fountain of youth and it is ridiculous to portray them as such. There is something else in common with those who got the vaccines to show this than merely getting the vaccines to cause these results.
I also started taking the supplements that were recommended like Vitamin D and losing weight to prevent complications if I were to get COVID even though I’m vaxxed...which has more health benefits than just possibly preventing a bad case of COVID. Perhaps it has made a greater number of people more health conscious as well.
And it also presumably protects you from death due to car crash, falling off a ladder, drowning, etc. Nervous flyer? Just get the jab before your next flight and you’re invincible.
It actually said the vaxxed were “Less likely to die from any cause.” A truly idiotic statement. I challenge whoever wrote this nonsense to test the claim by getting jabbed and then strolling into a Hell’s Angels hangout and picking a fight.
