An Idaho bowhunter who was looking for a shortcut instead found the remains of another hunter who had been missing for 53 years.
Raymond Jones was 39 years old when he was last seen on Sept. 7, 1968, while bow hunting for mountain goats in central Idaho’s Lemhi County, EastIdahoNews.com reported. Searches were unsuccessful, and Jones’ remains went unfound until Friday, when another bowhunter stumbled across them.

I got hypothermia once when skiing in Utah. I was in jeans and they got sopping wet. As soon as I ended my runs, I started shivering absolutely uncontrollably. There was no way to stop that involuntary violent shivering.
Fortunately, my car was only a quarter mile away (but I wasn’t even sure I could make it that far).
While obviously not life-threatening in the parking lot, it gave me a super appreciation for hypothermia in the wilds. It took a long soak in a hot tub to get over that.
Yeah, I got to the violent shivers once. Cotton kills.
Still .... I don't know that type of country, sooooo ....
I’m in the coeur d’alene casino as we speak. Very few of the staff are wearing masks and even fewer guests are. No panic here at all.
It seems like a bastion of freedom I tell ya.
“Cotton kills”
Very, very true. I think I immediately went out and bought proper ski pants after that episode.
LOL !!!

Wait! I didn’t have the salmon mousse.
I’m on it! He’s getting one for Christmas...maybe sooner - he’s heading to CO to hunt Elk end of October - but that’s an area he’s been to quite a number of times.
Lots of NOTHING out there, no deep cover, and no steep drops off the side of a cliff! ;)
LOL! I LOVE IT!
I’m always afraid I’m going to wake up one morning with a Shock Collar around my neck! ;)
“How did it get there?”
Beau bought our farm in the mid-80’s; it’s been a working farm since 1900.
We have two vehicles (a truck and a sedan) from the 1940’s lodged into the side of one of our wooded hillsides.
You tell me how they got there! No roads in or out. The kids stole the family cars and were Joy Riding? I’ve never felt compelled to rappel down there to investigate!
*SHUDDER*
This thread is TOTALLY freaking me out! ;)
I think it was in Wisconsin where a LEO was shot while on their horse. We call that Michigan bush hunting. Hear something? Shoot in that direction & then go see what you shot.
FTA: There were some other hunters in camp but he was by himself when he disappeared,”
#2 I wonder if they will be able to figure out what might have killed him?
A disagreement....
Idaho had a plague of California hunters and Kennedy’s when I lived there.
Up here, last month they found the remains of a woman who had been missing for 43 years.
So, this incident beats our *big* news.
The Rivers up here.....devour people, so it seems.
If you follow the show, North Woods Law, you may have seen the episode where a man reported missing for 16 years was found in his submerged truck in the Androscoggin River.
Skeletal remains found in submerged truck believed to be man missing for 19 years
Shoulda got vaxxed. He wouldn’a died so soon or so badly.
The high plains/desert country I go bird hunting (quail/chucker) in is all of northern Nevada/northern eastern California.
I always tell my wife I will be back in 10 or 12 days, if I ain’t back in 20 days she should send out the Sheriff’s posse to find the body cause I’ll probably be dead.
Sheriff will have about 300 THOUSAND square (about 190 million acres) miles to search, probably wouldn’t find much, lots of coyotes out there.
At least she would know that I died doing what I love.
“At least she would know that I died doing what I love.”
Yeah, but it’s gonna HURT the entire time you’re dying, LOL!
I trust Beau; he’s a cross between John Bear and Ted Nugent and a little Chuck Norris thrown in there for good measure.
But, still.
“and parachuted from the plane and got away with millions of stolen cash ...”
If he survived the landing and got back to civilization. But if his remains were found that might be a “shovel and shut up” situation for a newly wealthy hunter or hiker.
