An Idaho bowhunter who was looking for a shortcut instead found the remains of another hunter who had been missing for 53 years.
Raymond Jones was 39 years old when he was last seen on Sept. 7, 1968, while bow hunting for mountain goats in central Idaho’s Lemhi County, EastIdahoNews.com reported. Searches were unsuccessful, and Jones’ remains went unfound until Friday, when another bowhunter stumbled across them.

I wonder if they will be able to figure out what might have killed him?

It would have been a good Quincy episode.

I wonder if they will be able to figure out what might have killed him? COVID, of course, silly!

I was wondering the same thing. The bones must be pretty badly chewed up, so I think that would hard to determine. Took a bad fall? Mauled by a bear? Heart attack? Lightning strike? Suicide? Arkancide? Knew too much about the fraudulent Obama birth certificate?

I guess this was a seldom used shortcut.

From articles I’ve read they imply he fell and was killed outright or was injured and died, but net net is he fell.

You know, I’ve got to admit that this is probably my greatest fear. Beau spends SO much time in the field, WAY up north, that if he ever goes missing, I’ll know where to START looking, but I can easily see not being able to find him. Granted, he’s a TOTALLY competent woodsman, but sh#t happens.
Where’s Waldo? Somewhere within these 1.5 MILLION acres!

Wow. 53 YEARS. How horrible for this family. :( Too bad he wasn’t a pretty, white, missing female. They seem to find those gals within days, because...RACISM! *SMIRK*

Tough being in the woods by yourself, a slip can break an ankle, and you will have a tough time getting anywhere.
Although there are stories about someone who broke their leg, or had an arm mauled off by a bear who made a split or tourniquet and dragged themselves for several miles through the woods.

He probably carries a cell phone.
Cell phones are tracked by GPS as long as they have power.
Very little of Northern Wisconsin is completely out of cell phone coverage.

On Thanksgiving eve, November 24, 1971, a middle-aged man carrying a black attaché case approached the flight counter of Northwest Orient Airlines at Portland International Airport. He identified himself as “Dan Cooper” and used cash to purchase a one-way ticket on Flight 305, a 30-minute trip north to Seattle.

Ah, good old “DB.” Yes, another possibility, but eastern Idaho is a LONG way from the Portland - Seattle track.

I always carried a "Locator Beacon". The same kind you find on aircraft, only more portable.
