The Aussie govt. is quaranting everybody over 4 deaths a day and building concentration camps (”quarantine camps”).

As I was watching, I remembered the first time I saw the premier episode - on Sunday, September 9 2001. I was impressed by the acting, the sets, the plot, everything.

A few days later, I was watching it again - on Tuesday, September 11... I was looking for a break from all of the constant coverage of the terrorist attacks.

As I watched it again, with different eyes, all I could think was “We are going to war...”

I think that the timing of the showing is interesting, in a way it bookends when we started and when we ended the war...

Twenty years ago this week my son began his senior year in College. I knew as well that War was coming.

Eight months following I pinned the 2 Lieutenant Bar on his shoulder. His mother did the other. Following several months of training, eventually, he was order to his first ‘Field Problem.’ That would be the Invasion of Iraq.

I possibly had a better idea of what was going on during all of that than most civilians. I do (or did) not know everything, but I had a lens or prism which gave me a larger perspective of the events, though for a while Comms were not regularly available.

It is difficult to behold such productions as ‘Band of Brothers.’ I understand that.

You see, the way that it is during such events is that you have relationship with a loved one, and then suddenly it is as if they were plunged into a Black Hole, where reliable information is unobtainable.

I will not reveal specifics here, but my boy escaped Death by mere moments and there were factors that made that result seem implausible. Those weeks from 19 March to mid April of 2003 were indeed the most difficult days of my entire life.

Somehow we were blessed and all is well these days, as regards Harms Way, for my family.

Always though, I ache when I learn of the deaths of our Troops. The preventable deaths such as what we recently have endured have angered me beyond my capacity to express civilly. I am trying.

We have in control right now of our Armed Forces, Monsters.

I looked up food sources of niacin yesterday and there are a fair number. Many are meat sources which don’t help me, also vegetarian sources. Some that I remember are green peas, whole wheat, potatoes both white and sweet (esp. russets), and avocados. One good source is likely nutritional yeast but because I am still on the hand cranked machine, I was not able to access the details of the B vitamins in nutritional yeast. Red Star is the main one. If anyone feels like finding that lemme know. Tropical climate people can grow passion fruit.

The dietary reference intake for niacin is 14 milligrams for women and 16 milligrams for men, per day

Passionfruit is an excellent source of niacin, with 1 cup of whole purple passionfruit containing 3.5 milligrams and 1 cup of yellow passionfruit juice containing 5.5 milligrams. Other great fruit sources are: one avocado, with 3.5 milligrams.

A raw tomato contains roughly 1 milligram of niacin, and a 6-ounce can of tomato paste contains 5.2 milligrams. Canned tomatoes contain up to 3.6 milligrams per cup. Tomato juice will also increase your niacin intake with nearly 2 milligrams per cup.

A baked potato with the skin contains about 4.5 milligrams of niacin, and one that is baked without skin contains 2.17 milligrams. Homemade hash browns contain about 3.6 milligrams of niacin per cup.

There are a variety of mushrooms with variable amounts of niacin in each. Canned mushrooms contain about 2.4 milligrams of niacin per cup, and the same amount of boiled, fresh mushrooms contain nearly 7 milligrams. White, raw mushrooms have 2.5 milligrams per cup, and raw, diced portabella mushrooms have 3.8 milligrams per cup. Cooked shiitake mushrooms have about 3.4 milligrams per 1-cup serving.

For example, a 3/4-cup serving of bran flakes breakfast cereal contains 5 milligrams of niacin. A 1/4-cup serving of rice bran, which can be used in baking or added to breakfast cereals, contains 10 milligrams of niacin. Other grain sources of niacin include 1 cup of cooked, pearled barley, with 3.2 milligrams and 1 cup of cooked, long-grain brown rice, with 3 milligrams.

. One cup of roasted almonds contains 5.9 milligrams of niacin, and peanut butter contains about 4.3 milligrams per 2-tablespoon serving. 1 cup of sunflower seeds contains nearly 9 milligrams.

I’m looking at Australia as a precursor to Canada - a measure of what a normally peaceful and largely unarmed people will tolerate. I’m afraid for them too because they seem to be tolerating more than is good for them, and that makes me worry that we will do the same in Canada.

I know we're told 50 thousand refugees total, but Biden doesn't know how to count and tends to lose track of thousands of people (Americans in 'Stan) and may combine shipments of foreign fighters coming across our southern and northern borders.

Biden may simply decide to bring in more Afghanis and other foreign fighters, while contininuing to detain Americans in Kabul.

4. Joint Base McGuire-Dix–Lakehurst, N.J.

Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst (JB MDL) is a United States military facility located 18 miles (29 km) southeast of Trenton, New Jersey. The base is the only tri-service base in the United States Department of Defense and includes units from all five armed forces branches.

The facility is an amalgamation of the United States Air Force's McGuire Air Force Base, the United States Army's Fort Dix and the United States Navy's Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, which were merged on 1 October 2009.

It was established in accordance with congressional legislation implementing the recommendations of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The legislation ordered the consolidation of the three facilities which were adjoining, but separate military installations, into a single joint base, one of 12 formed in the United States as a result of the law.

The installation commander is Air Force Colonel Bridget V. Gigliotti.^[2]

The 42,000-contiguous acres of JB MDL are home to more than 80 mission partners and 40 mission commanders providing a wide range of combat capability. The base spans more than 20 miles, from east to west.

The 87th Air Base Wing provides installation management support for 3,933 facilities with an approximate value of $9.3 billion in physical infrastructure. More than 44,000 airmen, soldiers, sailors, marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, and their family members live and work on and around JB MDL, which has an economic impact on the state of New Jersey.^[3]

Marine Corps Base Quantico (commonly abbreviated MCB Quantico) is a United States Marine Corps installation located near Triangle, Virginia, covering nearly 55,148 acres (86.169 sq mi) of southern Prince William County, Virginia, northern Stafford County, and southeastern Fauquier County. Used primarily for training purposes, MCB Quantico is known as the "Crossroads of the Marine Corps".^[2]^[5]

Quantico Station is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince William and Stafford counties in the U.S. state of Virginia, used by the Census Bureau to describe base housing. The population was 4,452 at the 2010 census.

The U.S. Marine Corps' Combat Development Command, which develops strategies for U.S. Marine combat and makes up most of the community of over 12,000 military and civilian personnel (including families), is based here. It has a budget of around $300 million and is the home of the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School.

The Marine Corps Research Center at Quantico pursues equipment research and development, especially telecommunications, for the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps Brig, a military prison, was also located at Quantico, until its closure on 31 December 2011 and its subsequent demolition.

The FBI Academy, the principal research and training facility of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the principal training facility for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are also located on the base.

7. Fort Pickett, Va.

Fort Pickett is a Virginia Army National Guard installation, located near the town of Blackstone, Virginia and home of the Army National Guard Maneuver Training Center.

Fort Pickett is also the home of an annual exercise with elements of 36 Canadian Brigade Group, located in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Exercise "Southbound Trooper" is a joint exercise between the Canadian Forces Primary Reserves and Virginia National Guard that helps forge solid NATO doctrine between the two militaries. Soldiers from 37 Canadian Brigade, located in New Brunswick and Newfoundland also hold an annual exercise "Maritime Raider", usually shortly after Southbound Trooper.

While the facilities at Pickett are geared to train military personnel and units, non-military organizations use them too. These include the United States Marshals Service, FBI, ATF, the Virginia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, Virginia State Police and local law enforcement agencies.

The decision to inactivate the regular Army garrison at Fort Pickett and turn over operation of the post to the Virginia National Guard was finalized in 1995 and enacted in 1997. Since that time no regular Army personnel have been assigned to Pickett for the first time since January 1942.

8. Camp Atterbury, Ind.

Camp Atterbury, located in south-central Indiana, about 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Edinburgh, Indiana, serves as a military and civilian training post under the auspices of the Indiana National Guard.

Initially established in 1941 on 40,351.5348 acres (163.296868 km²) of land, Camp Atterbury opened in 1942 and continues to embody its motto, Preparamus (We Are Ready), as a site for preparing American military personnel and civilians for service.

Internment camp[edit]

From 30 April 1943, to 26 June 1946, a portion of Camp Atterbury was enclosed with a double barbed-wire fence and surrounded by guard towers for use as a prisoner-of-war camp. Administered under the terms of the Geneva Convention of 1929, the internment camp was one of 700 established in the United States. Over the three years and two months of its operation, the internment camp received an estimated 15,000 soldiers, most of them Italian and German.^[47]^[48] During its operation there were seventeen prisoner deaths, but no escapes.^[49]

2021 Afghan Evacuees[edit]

Upon the ending of the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021), Camp Atterbury will be used to process up to 5,000 Afghan refugees. The first 1,000 refugees arrived September 1, 2021.^[84] According to Officials, "the refugees include American citizens, Afghan allies who helped in the military effort, and those deemed vulnerable Afghans by the U.S. government."^[85]
