An investigative report on a 2018 mass shooting during a Ventura County bar’s “Country College Night” found the likely motive of the military veteran who carried out the attack was disdain for civilians and especially college students, a newspaper said.
The investigators’ report said Long had attended California State University, Northridge, where a group of students learned of his military service and made disrespectful comments to him. Friends and associates of Long told detectives that some students expressed the opinion that people who join the military deserved to be shot and killed.
The report stated that a friend of Long said he was “very angry” while attending the university.

Well, his story is probably true. I have a family member who dropped out of a college program in a Western state after it was revealed that the family member was a police officer. The comments and treatment by the priveledged brats, most of whom were not even working, were horrible, and this was a number of years ago.

In general, you are more likely to shoot people whom you don’t like. Is shooting people you don’t like a “worse” crime than shooting someone you are indifferent about?
My recollection is this was a gun-free zone where security, including off-duty officers working there, were unarmed.

The vet - David Long - walked into a bar and started randomly shooting people. The cashier was one of the first ones to go. He did kill himself which saved the taxpayers some money.
