Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think

I know, you probably haven't even driven one yet, let alone seriously contemplated buying one, so the prediction may sound a bit bold, but bear with me.

We are in the middle of the biggest revolution in motoring since Henry Ford's first production line started turning back in 1913.

And it is likely to happen much more quickly than you imagine.

Many industry observers believe we have already passed the tipping point where sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will very rapidly overwhelm petrol and diesel cars.

It is certainly what the world's big car makers think.

Jaguar plans to sell only electric cars from 2025, Volvo from 2030 and last week the British sportscar company Lotus said it would follow suit, selling only electric models from 2028.

As the market grew, prices fell rapidly and performance improved in leaps and bounds - encouraging more and more people to log on to the internet.

let the market plus individual rational self interest decide

Electric trains get their juice from an overhead catenary wire.

Or a diesel generator

Most locomotives are electric with diesel generators producing the electricity

In the cities with commuter trains, they have trains with the overhead wires to power the trains. In NYC and NJ, we have “hybrid” trains that are powered by the electric overhead wires in the city areas and once they get out to the burbs, the diesel generators kick on to power the train the rest of the way.

This technology has been around for many decades

“Musk did NOT found Tesla. He was brought in after them two gentlemen in the video had founded it and run into serious difficulties.”

He became the major funder and officer of the company A FEW MONTHS after the company was founded.

We’re still 60% coal powered in Ohio.
Some of these have better range than my gasoline powered truck, but on the other hand I can fill the truck up in 5 minutes.

500 miles with an 80k load. But they will be self driving till the final mile, so can top for recharges and still put in way more hours than a human driver.

“Electric trains get their juice from an overhead catenary wire.”

I guess you have never heard of the term ‘third rail’.

I just bought a gas powered car last year, I'm financing it over 7 years, a 2019 Ford Ecosport, so what does this mean? When I finally pay it off it will be banned because it's gas powered?

By the time you pay it off, EV owners who buy now will be faced with replacing and disposing their batteries. It won't be pretty.

” Plus, there is a recycling problem in regards to the hazardous components in these batteries.” What problem?“

The problems the commies are hiding. Just like wind power. They are hiding the complete environmental disaster that wind power is causing. The mere existence of wind and solar power is an environmental disaster. The commies don’t care as the goal is to make electricity scarce and expensive.

Don’t forget that every car out there represents at least 30-200 kilowatts of electricity to keep them running. A rapid recharge for their batteries will mean 1000k (at least) per car. I wonder if the people pushing electric cars an screaming “NO NUKES” have any idea,

How many more children are the fake environmentalists going to send down into mines in third world countries to extract the metals needed for cars with electric motors? As more and more cars with electric motors are put in use, the metals only get harder and harder to mine and only go up in price.

Fortunately hopium, like lithium, is both a treatment for mental illness as well as a material for storing electricity.

On a related note, there are those who are still waiting for their atomic cars promised to them more than half a century ago. "To the Batmobile. Atomic batteries to power. Turbines to speed. Roger, ready to move out."

The powertrain is one of the most appealing features of an electric car. It’s much cheaper to maintain or replace a battery than to maintain or replace an internal combustion engine.

“Why replace it?”

That’s gets to the heart of the matter. Each car buyer chooses his vehicle. When enough buyers choose electric then the claim “electrics have taken over” will become a reasonable thing to say.

They are useful idiots, the goal here is to get every american to buy a new car so wallstreet can make a fortune

They are using the leftards as the usefull idiots they are

They will build new plants to power this stuff

Or just kill off a large of the population so the exist plants would be fine.’

take your pick

It don't matter to me whether I drive a gas-powered or electric car. So long as I get Sirius/XM, 600 miles without having to fill up (or re-charge) and get from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds when entering the Merritt Parkway from a dead stop.

Also, I'd like a sunroof. Thank you and have a nice day.

I think you will see more plug in hybrids

The Toyota RAV 4 Prime is a plug in hybrid that can be a full electric vehicle up to 100 miles per charge

It is better build quality and cheaper then anything Tesla cobbles together. Plus it is a cross over SUV

43K isn’t bad
