Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think
I know, you probably haven't even driven one yet, let alone seriously contemplated buying one, so the prediction may sound a bit bold, but bear with me.
We are in the middle of the biggest revolution in motoring since Henry Ford's first production line started turning back in 1913.
And it is likely to happen much more quickly than you imagine.
Many industry observers believe we have already passed the tipping point where sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will very rapidly overwhelm petrol and diesel cars.
It is certainly what the world's big car makers think.
Jaguar plans to sell only electric cars from 2025, Volvo from 2030 and last week the British sportscar company Lotus said it would follow suit, selling only electric models from 2028.

I drive a truck for a living BTW, and do they have electric engines powerful enough to replace a diesel engine that can haul a fully loaded 80,000 pound trailer?
Have you seen a locomotive? They pull way more then 80,000 pounds and are all Diesel Electric, a diesel engine drive the turbine that generates electricity for the electric drive motors.
Electric motors are extremely powerful
Electric trains get their juice from an overhead catenary wire.
It is greenwashing, inspired by government. Government has had a hand in pushing adoption of new transport technologies from rail to autos - and it is going into overdrive on EV's.
Its a new technology for which China now has a lead, and the West wants to claw it back. So the EU and USA governments testing the limits of their own China-style central planning in forcing a change to EVs.
Common sense isn’t common anymore.
Yes, electric semis have clocked in millions of miles through the Nevada desert. And they are self driving, so you may want to brush off your resume.
I have 30 years of life left. I will never buy a electric auto. They can’t even keep the electric reliable in california and they want to add milions more on to the grid. What a laugh.
When are they going to have all electric airliners?
You will need a generation or in the trunk connected to the car battery.
Batteries. EVs require lithium batteries. China dominates the world lithium battery market.
Electricity IS magic. The stuff is always there... right in the wall... like poltergeist.
Electric cars are great, if the government can stay the hell out of it!
Let the market decide.
It will be quite a while before I buy one.
My 2 cents.
“What’s its range on one full charge of the batteries, pulling a load?”
Tesla is saying 500 miles. Musk is promoting over 600 on future batteries.
Why won’t they question that? Because it’ll expose their hypocrisy and indifference. Everything about the Left is fraudulent. Everything.
You are annoying, but also amusing.
You might want to get checked for mental illness, you don’t want your loved ones to suffer.
Did a quick back of the envelope calculation.
If everybody went electric it would require an additional 50% increase in electric generation.
About the only practical and reliable source for that without evil CO2 is nuclear.
So the environuts will be confronted with a tough choice.
Recharging will depend on how much amperage you can pump into them. Here is a chart. https://www.divineelectricnorcal.comTesla-charging-charts/ Typical recharging time is 8-16 hours at home or 30 minutes to an hour at a supercharging station. Your range will decrease significantly when it is cold.
In other words, an EV is perfect for someone who is looking for a glorified golf cart.
As usual.
Of all the things we have to deal with in this country, CORPORATISM, is one of the most evil and significant.

In our area, the big "green" energy utility Nextera is building a 1600 acre solar farm - and their press releases advertise it will produce enough energy for 500 homes. Which means the "footprint" of each home which is powered by solar now is 3+ acres.
It seems to me that utility-scale solar is an absolute failure. If government wants adoption, it should rather focus on pushing solar down to the lowest level - on the home itself.
