It would take 51.4 billion 350W solar panels to power the world! Put another way, this is the equivalent of a solar power plant that covers 115,625 square miles.

In our area, the big "green" energy utility Nextera is building a 1600 acre solar farm - and their press releases advertise it will produce enough energy for 500 homes. Which means the "footprint" of each home which is powered by solar now is 3+ acres.

It seems to me that utility-scale solar is an absolute failure. If government wants adoption, it should rather focus on pushing solar down to the lowest level - on the home itself.

there may be some out there but, i have yet to meet a guy that ever made his ROE back on a solar setup
