The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony, broadcast live from both Union Station and the Dolby Theatre in L.A. on ABC, hit a staggering low.
Per Nielsen Live+Same Day preliminary national numbers, an average of 9.85 million viewers tuned in on Sunday evening to watch a more intimate and stripped-down version of the Oscars in the midst of a pandemic. That’s a 58.3%, 13.75 million viewer drop-off from last year. The Academy’s third host-less show in a row scored a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 in the fast national ratings, a 64.2% dip from 2020.
For comparison, last year’s ceremony garnered a 5.3 rating in the key demographic and 23.6 million viewers

It’s gotten to the point when browsing for a movie to watch, if I stumble across an Academy Award winner I skip it knowing for sure it’s going to be a woke fest.
This happened when I was in high school. Still remember my mom’s shocked expression, we thought it was hysterical. David Niven had a great quip which brought down the house. Niven was a class act and a damn good actor. I miss the movie stars of yesteryear.
How about this 40 yo memory of just such a couple in a GREAT commercial series! Ah the memories of when there was intelligence and wit in advertising & Hollywood (vs half-wit & lack-wit now!)

I never watch it, but this year even my wife didn’t watch it. And she’s a big celebrity follower. After reading how woke the whole thing was she says she’s glad she didn’t watch it. Get woke, go broke.
The Oscars were last night? I was watching a British mystery whodunit from 2005 on Britbox.
Hollywood is on a death plunge. They haven’t woken up to it because they are too busy being “woke”.
