Plunging temperatures in Texas caused several power plants to go offline in rapid succession Sunday, shortly before midnight. This triggered an emergency on the Texas power grid and led about two million homes to lose electricity.
The unusual cold is expected to stick around until at least Tuesday. This means it could take a while to get the grid back to normal operations.

Cause China said so?
A story behind a paywall. *sigh*
I know we had trouble with Green School Buses because of low temperatures. Forgot what the solution was....if there was one.
25% reliance on “green” energy that frequently doesn’t work during times when it’s most needed.
Since the article requires a subscription, cannot read the entire thing. But being the “new” WSH, betcha they played down the fact that all the liberal ‘un’power plants had to shut down due the fact that renewables often are not renewable.
Ah, liberal engineering. One of the major oxymorons.
It’s cuz of ENERGY VAMPIRE invasion from Kalifornicatia ??
Diesel-powered tow trucks.
Because of too many idiots...................
Even the natural gas and coal plants went offline.
Wind turbines froze throughout Houston (yeah, green energy), this put a strain on all of Texas’ power grid.
The Houston mayor is a big liberal idiot!
Even the diesel pickups are having trouble. We put the treatment in all our diesel pickups and still the fuel was gelled too much to start the truck. Several of our friends got theirs started and were on the road when they quit. I know our ‘newer’ pickups don’t have the plug-in engine heater. Our older ones that do fired right up.
Is there any other kind?........................
They are having outages because of systemic racism and white supremacy.
Pro Tip: You can use archive.today to get around this.
Nope. My diesel Nissan XD has been incapacitated since yesterday despite diesel fuel treatment and a block heater. Low fuel pressure is all that she tells me
